HINTS ON USING
THE INDEXES:
Use your web browser's FIND
feature to search for a particular name.
The pages will be updated
periodically--please check the date at the bottom
of each page to
see when the most recent update has taken place.
NOTE:
The dates listed in the obituary file are the
dates the obituary was
published, not the date
of death.
If
a name is listed more than once in the index, it
means that there is an obituary available from
two
different papers or the same paper two different
times.
If a name is listed with NDA following it, that
means "No date available." Sometimes
obituaries were
turned into PCGS with no citation information
(such as the date the obit was published and the
name
of the paper that it came from). The obituary
itself is still available to be copied for you.
Obituary File Index updated September

We
ask for a $5 payment for each obit when the
search is done by our
research department.
If you come into our facility and do the work yourself,
the cost will only be 25 cents per page.

NEW Surname Index of Family
Histories (Finding Aid)
Currently there
are over 150,000 lines of information. As a
result, most any name you search
for will provide multiple resources for you. The
fields of information available to the researcher
contain the Box in which the resource is located;
the Name of the resource as it appears on the
cover; the Sub Section in the book involved, if
one is; the Surname; and whether there is an
Index or not. In a few of the books with indexes,
you will find multiples, in which case there
will be a number.

Finding Aids Index updated March 2012
Finding aids have
been created for each collection that is housed
on the archives floor of the PCGS Library.
These finding aids, listing the contents of each
collection, help the researcher find
information without having
to go through a collection paper by
paper. Each page, book, or item in the
collection is given a folder and/or item
number. The collections are open to
researchers. We will be happy to make
copies for you. Please email
us your
request with the following information:
collection name, folder number, item
number. We will not copy complete
collections.
There is a $5.00 handling fee plus 25
cents a page for copying (10 cents a page for
PCGS members).
