|
|
Keelie McCourtney Christman has
submitted that 200-13, 200-15, and 200-16 should have the surname of
MCCOURTNEY.
Jan Fenter has submitted the following
additions/corrections to page 211 of the 1840 Pulaski Co MO Census:
- Census page 211, line 16 Capbell, Moses age 40-50 with 2 male children ages
between 0-5 and a female age 20-30 Moses Campbell married Nancy B. Hillhouse. I
believe this Moses "Capbell" to be Moses Campbell. This couple and
family are found on the 1850 MO Census for Camden Co., bottom of page 671 lines
40-42 and top of page 672 lines 1-5.
- Census page 211, line 19 Campbell, Ruth age 30-40 two male children ages
between 5-10 and two female children between ages 10-15 and 15-20. I believe
this is Ruth (Anderson) Campbell, the widow of James Campbell who died sometime
between 1830 and 1840. See research done in the book "800 Missouri
Families Volume 1". James and Ruth (Anderson) Campbell were my ggg
grandparents, whose daughter, Mary "Polly" Caroline Campbell married
Andrew Steele.
- Census page 211, line 20 Steed, Andrew age 20-30 and female age 15-20. I
believe this is Andrew Steele who married Mary C. Campbell in 1839 in Green
Co., MO. Mary C. Campbell went by the name of "Polly" Caroline and
this couple was my gg grandparents. Their son, William Henry Steel(e) was my g
grandfather who married Adaline C. Cook. My grandparents, John Sanford Campbell
and Arlene Geraldine Steel(e), were 2nd cousins.
The following books have reference to my Campbell/Steel(e) families and some
collateral lines.
- 1) Book: "Missouri Marriages Before 1840", compiled by Susan
Ormesher, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. (1982), page 37 shows a notation in
this book of a marriage date of 5 July 1830, in Crawford Co., MO for Moses
Campbell and Nancy B. Hillhouse. Page 213 shows a notation that Andrew Steele
married Mary C. Campbell 24 Nov. 1839 in Green Co., MO.
- 2) Book: "800 Missouri Families Volume 1", by Donald Vincent
(1989), page 82, shows a notation that Nancy's middle name was Bethiah. Page 82
gives information on Moses Campbell, Ruth Campbell, Elizabeth Duff, and Andrew
Steel(e).
- 3) Book: "Annals of Methodism in Missouri", by W. S. Woodard, E.
W. Stephens, Publisher (1893), pages 121-124 shows information about Moses
Campbell, his brother James Campbell and his Ruth (Anderson) Campbell. Some of
my other collateral lines mentioned in this book Anderson, Duff, and Stanley.
- 4) Book: "Kansas Pioneers", by Topeka Genealogical Society,
Topeka, KS (1976), pages 282-283, biography of "The Campbells",
written/submitted by Mrs. Frank Goldfuss, Great-Granddaughter of Laura
(Stanley) Hart. This book lists Jacob Anderson's wife as Margaret Duff, and we
know that the name "Peggy" is a variation for Margaret. This bio also
lists and gives further information on James and Ruth Campbell, Moses Campbell
and wife Miss Hillhouse, Andrew Steele and wife Polly Caroline Campbell, Jacob
Anderson and wife Margaret Duff, as well as "brief" mention of other
collateral lines: Holmes; Brazeal; Cathey; McHenry; Sloan; Montgomery;
Mastison; Latimore; Stanley; Williams; Ousler; Young; Cook. Sometimes the book
only mentions the surname/maiden of the husband or wife.
