Sesquicentennial Logo-Slogan Contest

In preparation for the Sesquicentennial Celebration that will be held in July 2008 in honor of Ralls County ’s 150-year-old courthouse, the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee would like to encourage county residents to participate in a logo-slogan design contest.  The logo-slogan design contest is open to all Ralls County residents and Ralls County Historical Society Members.  $150 will be given to the artist whose artwork is chosen to represent this celebration.

The Ralls County Courthouse, 150 years old in 2008, is dear to the hearts of all who live in the area.  It is not the oldest courthouse in Missouri , but it is considered the most beautiful.  It is one of the finest examples of the Greek Revival period in architecture in the Middle West .  Additional information about the courthouse can be found on this website.

Images may be hand-draw or electronically created.  All artwork must be original, and the creator must ensure that his/her work is not in violation of copyright laws.  All artwork must contain the following phrases, “Ralls County Courthouse,” “Sesquicentennial Celebration,” and “1858-2008.”  Participants may submit more than one logo-slogan.   Logo-slogans must adapt well to electronic and printed media, to reproduction on small surfaces, and to use in color, black and white and in positive and negative form. By submitting an entry, you agree to grant the Ralls County Sesquicentennial Planning Committee and the Ralls County Historical Society ownership and use of your logo entry for any purpose relating to Sesquicentennial celebration.

The deadline for submitting designs is July 10, 2007 .  All entries should be mailed to Delores Woodhurst, 26790 Highway J, Perry , MO 63462 .  Electronic entries can be email to woodhurst@rallstech.com.  If you have any questions, please contact Delores Woodhurst at 565-3549.  The creator of the winning design will be notified by August 1, 2007 .

Ralls County Historical Society Museum

Work has begun on the new Ralls County Historical Society Inc. museum/library at 120 East Main Street , Perry Missouri. Over the years the society has collected historic  artifacts, articles, books, genealogies and  other items of historical interest that will be featured there.  One of the features of the museum will be many old photos of historic events, people, schools and churches of Ralls County and the surrounding communities.  Any donation or loan of old photos or other items that could be featured is welcomed. For people wanting to keep their photos a service to scan old photos is being planed. The library will be stocked with histories, censuses, atlases, genealogies, cemetery records, church records, and reference books of Ralls County and Northeast Missouri . The hours have not been set yet and will likely vary with the seasons and attendants. As soon as possible there will a grand opening for the public to see the hard work of our membership. It will operate on memberships, public donations, books sales and voluntary donation at the site.  Anyone wishing to help or contribute money, time or items to this project write Ralls County Historical Society,  P.
