The place was about 1 1/2 miles from Herald,
Illinois on the Lewis Newcomb farm.

ground from the Little Wabash River.

Howell School, 1913 located southwest of Dexter, The little boy holding
the slate is Elmer (Bill) Birchfield and the second little boy on Elmer's
right (on his knees in white shirt with big collar, has curly hair)
