The purpose of this organization is to encourage the science of genealogy, to promote education, to gather genealogical information, to preserve and publish materials of historical and genealogical nature, and to promote interest in the preservation of genealogical records in Stoddard County, Missouri.

June 7th. Areas the workshop will cover: organization, researching basic
sources (census, vital records, military records, immigration), Keller
Library Resources, Stoddard County Archives Resources. On April 2, 2012, the National Archives (NARA) released the 1940 Federal Census as digital images. If you would like to help create an index that will be available for free to the public, our society is participating in the indexing effort by FamilySearch.org. If you are interested in helping, please contact Rick Young.
In June 2010, the Society working together with Acclaim Press completed
the family history book, a project that took 2 and 1/2 years.
The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter with issues in the spring, summer, fall and winter. The newsletter covers the area of Stoddard County, with stories and names of early settlers. As a member your name, contact info, and the surnames you are researching are published. Queries, not to exceed 65 words, are free to members. More than one query may be submitted at a time and will be printed as space allows. The new editor of the newsletter is Lynda Stewart. The society expresses appreciation for her willingness to take on this responsibility. If you wish to make a submission to the newsletter, please send it to e-mail address scgsnewsletter@yahoo.com Members are welcome to submit articles for consideration, to be published relating to Stoddard County.
