FROM THE COMMERCE HISTORICAL SOCIETY:
Will you please
take a moment to let us know of any persons buried in the old Commerce/Anderson
Cemetery. This will not give us a complete list of all people buried there but by checking
your list against this list, it will give us as complete a list as possible. So if you
know of someone who is buried there, please let us know.
The cemetery needs to be cleaned before we get
a new growth of weeds, trees and brush. This requires hard labor, if you will help, please
let us know.
If you are unable to help with the work but
would help financially, we will open an account/trust fund to help with the project. This
will help with the project and help with the repairs to the damaged monuments.
Your immediate response is appreciated. Please

FROM THE CHARLESTON COURIER dated September 20,1861:
Our customs and habits are like the ruts in roads. The wheels of life settle into them, and we jog along through the mire, because it is too much trouble to get out of them.
The snake's poison is in its teeth; the slanderer's in his tongue.
