After subsequent treatments, it became important to Erin to give something back. She began collecting her own change and spearheaded for "Friends of Doernbecher."  Erin became impassioned to raise additional funds for the hospital. Susan Heinze, whose daughter is also fighting brain cancer, proposed the idea to have Erin's artwork reduced and printed on note cards to be sold in various stores throughout Corvallis, Oregon with 100 percent of all proceeds for "Friends of Doernbecher."  Erin was thrilled beyond words that her artwork would continue to inspire others to live up to her motto, "Never give up, never surrender." After leaving Doernbecher, Erin entered hospice care with Sharon Wentz as her registered nurse. Sharon recognized Erin's talents and orchestrated an art show of Erin's paintings. Hospice care allowed Erin to remain at home with the care and support of her family. Erin is survived by her loving mother, Becky; twin brother, Eric; and adoring grandparents, David and June.
