FLAT RIVER COUPLE WED FIFTY YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Hibbits of Farmington held open house on Sunday afternoon, June 2, honoring his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen G. Hibbits of Flat River, celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary. The actual anniversary date was on May 28.

Arrangements of yellow roses, lilies and greenery, combined with yellow tapers in gold candelabra decorated the buffet and table in the dining room, and the table was centered with a beautiful three-tier wedding cake, encircled with yellow rosebuds and embellished with the numerals "50". Gold colored mint cups and napkins inscribed with the names Mamie and Allen, further decorated the refreshment table. Miss Betty Hibbits of Flat River, a granddaughter, and Misses Edelene and Rhonda Henderson of Flat River served cake and punch. Mrs. Paul Brotherton of Flat River, another granddaughter, presided at the guest book.

Mrs. Hibbits was presented an orchid corsage and Mr. Hibbits a yellow carnation bouttoniere. They are the parents of ten children: Bernice (Mrs. Thos.) Edwards, Herbert and Pauline (Mrs. Thos.) Avin, all of Tampa, Fla.; Harvey Hibbits of Cantwell; Robert, Woodrow and Paul Hibbits, Farmington; Ina (Mrs. Edw.) Cummings, Casper, Wyo.; Mary (Mrs. Paul) Bloom, Minnith, Mo.; and a son, Thomas, who was deceased in 1956. They have 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. All of the living children were here with the exception of Mrs. Cummings, who spent last week with her parents, and Mrs. Edwards of Tampa who was unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Hibbits (Mamie Williams) were married on May 28, 1907, in Desloge. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams of St. Louis, formerly of Desloge, attended their wedding, and Mrs. Williams was present for the anniversary celebration. After living in Desloge for a year following their marriage, the couple moved to a farm in Ste. Genevieve County, where they resided 25 years. In 1950 they moved to Flat River. Mr. Hibbits was formerly employed by St. Joseph Lead Company.

Out of town guests were Mrs. Robert Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Williams and baby and Mrs. Mildred Hull, all of St. Louis.
