Henry HARPER Jr. was first m. to Keziah Brown who d. in 1853. They had 2 children, Mary Kesiah HARPER, b. 1851, MO, and Samuel HARPER, b. 1853, MO. Henry HARPER Jr. bought property from Andrew Jackson MOORE in 1858. Andrew was Sarah MOORE'S brother. (I was told that a parcel of that land was donated for the Harper Cemetery, east of Aid, MO.) On the 1860 Stoddard Co. MO census, Henry HARPER Jr. and his wife, Sarah, age 21, b. in TN, were living next door to Henry MOORE'S widow, Elizabeth. In addition to children Mary K. and Samuel HARPER, there was a son, James Marion HARPER, age 1, in the household. Henry MOORE'S son, James arion MOORE, died in 1857. I believe James M. HARPER may have been named for him. By the 1870 Stoddard Co. census, Henry HARPER Jr. was married to Sarah CORBIN, age 28, b. GA. At that time the children in the household were Mary, 19; Samuel, 14; Marion, 11; Margaret, 8; Sarah A. 6; Rachel, 4; John A. 1. Henry HARPER Jr. moved to Lamar Co. TX shortly after that, where Henry died in 1883. Sarah CORBIN HARPER m. Nathan FLOWERS in Stoddard Co. on 15 Nov 1884, and they moved to Cook Co. TX. Looking for a great grandfather in MO. Possibly married in 1881 in Stoddard Co. This is the story my grandfather, age 84, told in 1968, 2 years before his death: His father, Alonzo A. WILLIAMS, was "a big Mason" and raised tobacco on his farm. When Alonzo died in 1892-93, his wife Annie Sara(h) BRADFORD, took Freeman Arthur WILLIAMS and Grover Thomas WILLIAMS, to Kaufman Co. TX, for reasons unknown. A cousin (unk. if maternal or paternal), Dr. Leslie MCSWAIN, was appointed guardian of the estate. Another cousin, Ted WINN/WYNN(GWYNN), bought the farm in abt. 1905, when both sons had reached legal age. Coincidentally, Grover turned 21 on 17 Sept 1905 and married on 1 Oct 1905, possibly on the proceeds from the sale of the estate. If this rings a familiar bell for anyone, please contact me by email. This is the only information I have to go on for either side of the family. Is there a way to research Masonic membership in this era? How about medical licenses. I'm very new to this and would appreciate any leads. Thank you.
