I am trying to find more information about my grandfather and great-grandfather. The family name is TREAT. Legend has it that William Amazire Treat came from Stoddard Co. (Dexter) MO in a covered wagon with his two small children. William C. Treat (18 mo. old) and Ollie Mae Treat (3 years old). William Amazire Treat's gravestone says (1860-1930). William Clarence Treat years are (1902-1942) so I assume that they made this journey around 1903-1904. I also understand that his first wife had died in Missouri and that he remarried before coming to Illinois. The only information I have is that they think my great-grandmothers name was Rachel Arnold. I do not have the first clue as to how long my great-grandfather lived in Missouri, Stoddard Co. is the farthest link I can locate. Unfortunately, that is the most that my aunt (the oldest living relative) can remember. Please help, if possible. Thank You Susan Odum

Thomas Overton Waller (1848-1920) came to Stoddard County as a child. He came with his widowed mother, Eliza (Johnston) Waller who as a second marriage, married Jesse B. Morgan. It is believed Thomas O.Waller married twice. First to Mary Canada on Dec. 26, 1864 and second to Nancy Emmaline Caldwell (1860-1921). There is no record in Stoddard County of this second marriage, but Nancy is buried with Thomas in the Puxico Cemetery and she is mentioned, as wife of Thomas, in some real estate transactions. There may have been a third woman in Thomas's life. One story has it that Thomas fathered a number of children born to a Cherokee woman living in Mingo Swamp.
