Surnames:BRICKHOUSE, EDMUNSON
Submitter: Carole Schreiber
Todays Date: 12/16/08
Trying to verify if Betty BRICKHOUSE and B.B. EDMUNSON are possibly one and the same women. Have proof of marriage in Bloomfield of EDMUNSON to Grant Allen KEE on 5 Dec 1901, but son, John L. KEE's death certificate indicates his mother was Betty BRICKHOUSE. Both women alledged to have been born in MO, but no proof found yet. Neither name found in MO Death Records online.
Thank you,
Carole Schreiber in Calif.

I have a copy of "The Vindicator, Bloomfield, Missouri, 1880-1888 - Abstracts of Local News" by Betty Rolwing Darnell. In it is an article: Dated Saturday, 22 December 1883: "Miss Nora Cole of this place, in company with her brother, Ud Cole, left for Jonesboro, Arkansas, yesterday to visit their sister, Mrs. Harry McQuinn. They will be absent several days." Can you tell us who these family members are? The siblings of Pleasant Grant Cole, perhaps? Apparently they were at least teenagers in 1883.

Surnames:HUGHES, CARR
Submitter: Winpug@aol.com
Todays Date: 12/16/08
My father, Albert Hughes was born in Dexter, MO March 6, 1898. His father was Christopher C. Hughes and his mother was Laura. I have found no record of this family in Missouri. Christopher was born in Arkansas and Laura Carr was born in White County, Illinois. I am wondering if there were several people who located there in the late 1800's and if there is any record of this family.
Thank you very much.

Surnames: JACKSON

On the 1870 US Census of Stoddard County appears:
AW Jackson age 44 farmer, born in Tenn.
Hester, 33 keeps house, ILLs
Wm H 14 ills
Rhodina 11f ills
Andrew L 6 ills
Samuel 4 ills
Benj B 11/12 Mo
Except Andrew they VANISH after this census and I havent found them anywhere.
I recvd an email that said Andrew and Benjamin were injured in a mill (Kennett) accident between 1889-1899 but havent found anything to verify that.
AW Jackson would have been my G-G Grandfather (a guess that AW stands for Andrew) and Andrew L. was G Grandfather.

My father was John Edward LONG 2 Aug 1908, Grayridge, Stoddard, have marriage, death and descendants records grandfather James Vader LONG 9 Sept 1884, Avert, Stoddard, have marriage, death, and some of his family records, looking for Rebecy, have birth only and only the name of Simpson B Long with dob of Dec 1889 great grandfather John Edward LONG only have marriage, 29 Oct 1876, Bloomfield, Stoddard. Looking for his information and hopefully his parents
HIBBS, Mary Elizabeth HIBBS, only know she went by Elizabeth and was John Vader Long’s mother, believe her father is Jim HIBBS.
HESTER, Luella was James Vader’s wife and my grandmother, have all of her information for her generation. Eli Hester is her father and I have no records for him.
HOXWORTH, is what my grandmother said was her mother Mary’s maiden name. I found marriage, census records that seem to show she first Married William A ESTES on 19 Nov 1876 , then Eli Hester on 5 Jan 1882. Even found a legal document for the under aged twins Wesley and Jesse, called Wes and Jess and knew my grandmothers brothers. Mary HOXWORTH, either ESTES or probably HESTER Also had twin daughters that died at birth.
Also my father talked about Anna (I believe LONG) and my grandmother’s bible had her marrying 1st Charles MASSEY on 2 Aug 1902 and 2nd William Dallas LIPE 2 Apr 1912. I remember meeting Dallas and Anna or Annie. Any records there.
I had one brother who died in the military at age 21, unmarried, my father John Edward Long was and only child and he is dead. I would like to do the paternal DNA testing on the LONG line. The reason I am so interested in Simpson LONG. Do you think any of the other Longs that were in Stoddard were related to each other? Sure wish I could go out to Stoddard. I was there for two days in about 1990 and started, no computer then, etc. and then my father died.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated, Karol Long Vella
