QRYTEXT: My great
great
Grandfather John Marshall was from the Poplar Bluff area of
Missouri. I
think he had a relative(either brother or cousin), William
Marshall, who
was from Qulin/Melville, MO area that was in the 4th Regimental
Arkansas
Volunteers. I would like to know if anyone out there has a
muster list
and were there any more Marshall's listed in this regiment. My
great
grandfather died in the war in 1864. I don't know if they
started out in
a Missouri regiment but think that their families were forced
into
Arkansas by the Union Troups in the SEMO area.
I believe these gentlemen may have been related to the Rea
family of
Stoddard(Bloomfield) and Wayne(Greenville) counties. The
following Rea's
from Stoddard county were in the corresponding regiments:
Moses B Rea-Missouri 7th Calvary-company B
W T Rea-same company
(Both were paroled as privates may 25-1865 in Wittsburg, Ar)
A related family from Stoddard county are the Walkers they are as
follows:
Ephraim Walker-enlisted as private in Preston's Calvary POW in
Stoddard
county, Mo(was also listed as private Co B in 2nd infantry
regiment
Division 1 of Missouri Guard.
George Walker-was enlisted as Private Company K-Missouri Guard
Malcolm Walker-was elected to 2nd Lt. company G, Division 1 of
the
Missouri Guard 9-10-1861 and was mustered out 1-1-1862.
If anyone has any comments or has any information or can help me
find my
great great Grandfather John Marshall in any of these outfits,
please
