QRYTEXT: I am seeking any information
to be had
on John WARF and his wife Bithia
who show up in the 1850 census in Butler County, MO. He is 50
and says
he was born in NC, and his wife is 53, born in KY. Their son,
James
Henderson WARF, is the only child listed with them. He is 15
and was
born in IL.
I may have found this same family living in Franklin County, IL
in the
1830 census, though further verification is necessary. If it is
them,
they had at least three other children. I have not found them
on the
1820, 1840, or 1860 censuses, although I do find James Henderson
in
1860. I have checked Wayne County, MO, but have had no luck.
I know they were in Butler and Dunklin Counties. I know they
lived
around Ash Hill, Bernie, Maldon, and Senath, and James Henderson
lived
in Greene County, AR later.
I would truly appreciate any help you might give me in finding
John and
Bithia's death dates, places of burial, census citations for
decades I
don't have, or any other information about them. I am also very
open to
suggestions about Missouri research. They are as far back
as I can go with my WARF line.
Family stories say John was half Cherokee or Saponie Indian.
I have also seen the name spelled "WORF" and "WHARF."
Thank you for any help you can give me. I am planning a trip to
Missouri this summer to search further.
