NOTES: Our Civil War Veteran died at the age of 60y 1m 26d. He is buried at the Link (Chapel - which is no longer there) Cemetery in Stoddard Co., MO. To find this cemetery take Hwy 25N, go through Bloomfield in Stoddard Co., MO. Turn right on Co. Rd #514, then left on #510, travel 1.3 miles - there's a little fork in the curve of the road with a 'Link Rd' sign on the left fork - drive down that about .2 mile. The cemetery is on the right. ... Daniel's tall pillar marker is the 2nd marker you see as you drive down the road & it's right at the edge of the road. His wife Mahala's is the first marker - it's broken down with age.

ON THIS 19th day of December, A.D. 1898, personally appeared before me, a Circuit Clerk in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oathe, MARY AND LINK aged 63 years, a resident of ___________ in the County of Stoddard and State of Missouri whose Post-Office address is Bloomfield Stoddard Co., MO well known to me to be reputable and entitled to ccredit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case as follows:
That I am aquainted with Daniel Link about all of his life. We were raised togeather. I have been aquainted with MAHALA ARCHA (LINK) scence the year 1865 and have known her every scence. I was present at the marrage of Mr. Link to MAHALA ARCHA. That the Mahala Link is the same person whom Mr. Link married at the time that is now making this application for a pension. That I personally know that they lived togeather as man and wife up to the death of Daniel Link on or about Agu. 21st 1898. I know of my own personal knowledge that Mahala Link has never married to any other person except Daniel Link.
I have lived in the immediate neighborhoood of these parties every scence their marriage to each other. I am a Sister in Law of Daniel Link I know that W. W. Norman is dead. Mr. Norman was veary hard of hearing and he could not speak words plain and in this the mistake was made in the married certificate as Adaline M. Asher instead of ASELUTE MAHALA ARCHA.
I know that Daniel Link never was married to any person the MAHALA ARCHA (KNOW LINK). I know of my own personal knowledge that Mahala Link is the idential person who Daniel Link married and that she is his widow and that she has veve been married to any other person than Daniel Link
Her postoffice address is Bloomfield Stoddard Co., MO. I further declare that I have no interest in said case and I am not concerned in its prosecution. her

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Mahala's headstone is the first headstone you see when you approach the Link Cemetery from the lane. It appears to be a handmade marker that has not withstood the test of time well. Facing the stone, the whole right upper corner has been broken off - nearly removing the last digit of her birthyear. It clearly reads Jan. 5, 185_ ... that last digit could be a 6 - or possibly even a zero. However - we must remember that all her census records reveal a different birthyear - but in the 1900 census she states that she was born May 1849 & it's the only record that her stated age matches the birthyear. We also must keep in mind ... the information on her headstone is per the informant giving the headstone maker her personal information!
So this leaves me with a perplexing question ... do I list her birthdate as per her own information as listed on the 1900 census record when she was 49 years old? ... or do I list the birth information as per her headstone? .... any suggestions???????
