D. F. Cary Passed Away.
D. F. Cary passed away at 11
o'clock Saturday morning, March 31. Death occurred at the home of a
daughter, Mrs. Paul Lyons, in Metz, where he has been making his home
for some time.
While death was sudden and a shock to all, it was not
unexpected as doctors had warned his loved ones that the end might come
at any time.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church in
Metz at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Earl Bingham and
assisted by Rev. R. A. Blalock. Burial was by the side of his wife in
Balltown cemetery.
A duet, composed of Mrs. Homer Lyons and Mrs. Howard
Lyons, sang "The Lights of Home," and "No Disappointment in Heaven."
Miss Roberta Brown sang "Going Down the Valley." Mrs. C. R. Lawrence was
at the piano.
Pallbearers were Merle Alexander, Crawford Graham, Louis Ragan, Art
Brown, Claud Pettit and Frank Brown.
Delbert Forest Cary, son of Baker and Margaret Cary,
was born just east of Metz, April 13, 1871, and departed this life March
31, 1951. Had he lived until April 13, he would have been 80 years of
age.
On September 30, 1894, he was united in marriage to
Stella M. Rynard, who preceded him in death on May 27, 1945.
To this union were born 1 son, Joe M. Cary of West
Plains and 2 daughters, Mrs. Isa D. Brown of near Rich Hill and Mrs.
Roxie M. Lyons of Metz, all of whom are left to mourn his passing. Also
surviving are 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a number of
nieces and nephews.
Deceased was the last of a family of 6 children.
Preceding him in death were 1 brother, Will Cary and 4 sisters, Lea
Scrutchfield, Nevada Summers, Serena Bedford and Lizzie Harbin.
In early manhood Mr. Cary united with the
Christian church and was a faithful member until the end.
He had spent his entire lifespan of 80 years in this
community.
