The Vernon County
Genealogical Society first organized in Nevada, Missouri in 1982. Several years later the
organization expanded its membership and geographic area to also include
Cedar and St. Clair Counties, and the name was then changed to Tri-County
Genealogical Society (Vernon-Cedar-St. Clair). In 2011 the society's
name was changed to Cedar and Vernon County, MO Genealogical Society. The Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization, and donations to the Society are tax exempt.
The Society's main genealogy research collection is
housed in the
Genealogy Department of the Nevada Public Library where it is
available, without charge, to researchers during all hours that the
Public Library is open.
The Society meets monthly on the third
Tuesday at 10 a.m. with a business meeting followed by a program
pertaining to some aspect of genealogy or history. Meetings are
alternately held at:
Public Library Meeting Room, 212 W. Walnut Street, Nevada, MO.
Dorado Springs Library Meeting Room, 808 S. Main Street,
El Dorado Springs, MO.
We welcome local as well as long-distance members in
support of the Society's work to place genealogy and family history
information in the public library. Click here for a
membership form and

welcome to attend all meetings, and membership in the Society is open to anyone
