Lumber and All Kinds of Building Material.
_______________
The R. J. Hurley Lumber
Company supplies the trade of this locality with lumber and all kinds of
building material.
This big company has
twenty-five lumber yards, located at the following towns: Adrian,
Amoret, Archie, Blairstown, Clinton, Creighton, Deepwater, East Lynne,
Foster, Fairview, Garden City, Harrisonville, Hume, Joplin, Leeton,
Merwin, Metz, Monegaw Springs, Neosho, Osceola, Richards, Rich Hill,
Stotesbury, Urich, all in Missouri, and Humboldt, Kansas.
J. J. Stark is the local
manager and he is a very busy man. The business during the month
just passed has broken all records, and it promises to keep booming.
During one week in August Mr. Stark sold bills of lumber for six houses.
How is that for a locality that is not boasting of a boom?
R. J. Hurley has a
reputation far and wide for doing a fair and honest business and his
representatives are men who know how to treat you right. My. Stark
is a gentleman of that stripe and the company's growing business is
doubtless due to the fact that customers are assured that he is the
proper man to deal with.

To the left is a scan of a sample of "panelized
timber" which was sold at the R. J. Hurley Lumber Company in Metz, MO,
in the early 1900s. The piece boasts that "You can line your
garage; transform an unsightly kitchen; add a playroom; finish off the
garret ~ easily and economically with Cornell Wood Board Panelized
