Andrew Jackson Longacre was born September 16, 1829
in Roane County, Tennessee. He married Marry B. 'Polly' Shumate;
and following her death, he married Sarah Frances Caton.
Sarah Caton was the daughter of Hugh M. and Nancy Ann
(Harvey) Caton, and she was born February 20, 1846 in Carroll County,
Missouri. A. J. was the son of Benjamin and Judith (Perkins)
Longacre (jr).
Andrew J. Longacre was a Second Lieutenant, Co E,
Hunter's Rgt. during the Civil War.
A. J. or Andy, died February 11, 1907 and was buried
in Moore Cemetery, Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri. His remains
were later moved to Deepwood Cemetery, according to cemetery records.
Sarah died July 10, 1923 and is buried next to him in Deepwood
Cemetery, Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri.

DEATH OF A. J. LONGACRE
Was One of the Oldest and Most Highly Esteemed
Residents
of This County.
A. J. Longacre, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed residents of
this county, died Friday at his home on West Arch street, his death
being due to paralyses and old age. The deceased was one of the oldest
residents of the county, being nearly eighty years of age, and had lived
here more than forty years. He came to Vernon county many years ago from
Johnson county and up to about five years ago resided in the county.
During his residence in Nevada he has been ill most of the time.
The deceased was a member of the South Methodist church, and he was a
faithful and consistent member, his life being in harmony with his
belief in the teachings of his Master. He was a splendid citizen
and an indulgent father, who loved his home and there found his greatest
happiness.
Mr. Longacre is survived by two daughters Mrs. Paul Wray and Mrs. Finch,
and five sons, John, Bayles, William, Hugh and Howard.
