MEXICAN  WAR  VETERANS

VERNON MEXICAN VETERANS

They Will Meet at Nevada Next Friday

The Mexican Veterans of Vernon county will hold their annual reunion at Nevada, Friday, September 14th.

They will meet at the court house at 11 o’clock, call the roll, elect officers, and then indulge in a banquet at W. C. Brown’s lunch room.

Dr. E. R. Morerod, who died Sunday night was a member of this association and was corresponding secretary.  He will be missed by his comrades when they meet here next Friday.  He had attended every meeting since the association was founded.  Secretary Chas. P. McRay received a letter from Dr. Morerod asking him to correspond with members of the association urging them to be present at the coming meeting.

“I don’t know the cause of the Doctor’s death,” said Capt. McRay, “but suppose he went like all of us are going.  He was the life of the association, and we will all miss him very much.”

The little band is growing smaller year by year.  Yet there are a number of hale, hearty old boys left to call the rolls for years to come.
