ADAMS Birth: ABT. 1849 in Green, Missouri 1  Death: in Texas  Note:  "DECLARATION OF A WIDOW FOR ORIGINAL PENSION State of Texas, County of Grayson "On this 29th day of December, A.D. one thousand nine hundred and five, personally appeared before me, a notary public within and for the county and State aforesaid, Matilda C. Logan, aged 56 years, a resident of Sherman, County of Grayson, State of Texas, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain pension under the acts of Congress granting pension to the widows of soldiers and sailors who have died by reason of wound or injury received, or disease contracted, in the service of the United States and in the line of duty:
"That she is the widow of James H. Logan, who was enrolled under the name of James H. Logan on the first day of November, 1863 as a private in Company C, 16th Regt of Cavalry, Mo. Vols. and was discharged on the thirtieth day of June, 1865, and who died at Sherman, Texas on the 17th day of September, 1905. "That the said soldier was born October 12, 1842 at Miller County, Mo., that his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet & 7 inches, complexion, Dark, color of eyes, Hazel; color of hair, Dark; that his occupation was Farmer. "That she was married under the name of Matilda C. Adams to said soldier at Christian County, Mo. on the 16th day of September, 1869 by John N. Adams, Justice of the Peace , that neither of them had been married before. "That the said soldier left the following named children under 16 years of age at the date of his death, to wit: Beulah E. Logan born July 18, 1890 at Christian County, Mo. "That she has .....heretofore applied for pension, Wid O. No. 835-418, under the name of Matilda C. Logan, widow of James H. Logan. "That her post-office address is No. 308 East Lomor Street, Sherman, County of Grayson, State of Texas. "Attest: J. E. Copelin V. E. Copelin Signed: Matilda C.
