Clyde Arthur Rowen
February 21, 1917 - October 11, 2010

Clyde revived the Wright County Historical Society in 1986, changing it from a social gathering for dinner to monthly programs of Wright County, Missouri historical and genealogical interest.  In 1990, members of the Society became very interested in the publication of a "History and Families" book.  Clyde soon retired from his "day job" and undertook the task of turning this interest into reality.  After long hours and true dedication to the cause, "History and Families of Wright County, Missouri" was indeed a reality.  Over 4,000 copies of this book have been sold.  This turned out to be a Volume I and the project of publishing a Volume II began.  This, too, became a reality.  Clyde was also the Editor of:  "Battle of Hartville and Related Events", "Tales One" and "Tales Two."

He also wrote the information that was used on the panels of the Civil War Memorial, located adjacent to the Steele Memorial Cemetery in Hartville, MO.  As his health began to fail, Clyde undertook one more project.  This was to edit the Vearl Rowe books and prepare them for professional printing.  It was close to completion when he passed away.

The Historical and Genealogical Community has lost a friend.

From his obituary: "Clyde was a trusted neighbor and friend.
We celebrate his life and accomplishments, and will forever
hold dear the memories he created for his family and many friends."
