Cheryl
Romayne Daniel, daughter of Leroy and Nelda Anne Quillen Dedmon, was born
Apr 7, 1953 in Mansfield, MO. She departed this life Dec 12, 1990
in the Mercy Tri-County Hospital, Mansfield, MO, at the age of 37 years,
8 months and 5 days. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather
Hearl Quillen and her paternal grandfather Austin Dedmon. Cheryl
is survived by one son Jason Daniel of the home; one daughter Jessica Daniel
of the home; her parents Leroy and Nelda Anne Dedmon, Mansfield, MO; 2
brothers Dennis Dedmon, Hartville, MO and Tony Dedmon, Springfield, MO;
2 sisters Karen Loomis, Hartville, MO and Pam Dedmon, Mansfield, MO; her
maternal grandmother Ermal Quillen, Mountain Grove, MO; her paternal grandmother
Edith Dedmon, Marshfield, MO; as well as a host of other relatives and
friends. She was born and raised in the Mansfield community and lived
most of her life in the Wright County area except for several years when
she lived in the St. Louis area. Cheryl was a member of the Mansfield
Full Gospel Church and had made her peace with the Lord. She liked
craft projects of all sorts and loved to cook. Her family and friends
were very important to her. Cheryl will be fondly remembered as a
loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and a caring friend.

Ina Leona:
Ina
Leona Daugherty, daughter of Charley and Ethel Pearl Travis Tate, was born
Nov 28, 1917 near Bendavis, MO. She departed this life Thursday,
Sep 5, 1996 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of
78 years, 9 months and 7 days. On May 23, 1936, she was united in
marriage to Henry Erwin Daugherty and to this union 3 sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henry on Feb 16,
1981; 2 sisters Lois and Helen; and a granddaughter Diana Daugherty.
Ina is survived by her 3 sons Dearl Daugherty of Strafford, MO, Jerald
Daugherty of Hartville, MO, and Don Daugherty of Lee's Summit, MO; 10 grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; a sister Faye Ratteree of Belton, MO; a brother
Jim Tate of Bell, CA; a number of half-brothers; several nieces and nephews;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and
raised in Texas County, near the Bendavis area. Shortly after she
and Henry were married, they made their home in the Dykes community in
Texas County. In 1965, they moved to Mansfield, and then lived in
Mountain Grove for several years before returning to Hartville in 1990.
Throughout the years, she was always a devoted homemaker to her husband
and family. At the age of 14, Ina professed her faith in Christ at
Rock
Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Since moving back to Hartville she
was a member of the Hartville Assembly of God Church. She took the
responsibility of being a minister's wife very seriously and worked along
side of her husband in whatever church they pastored. In her spare
time, she enjoyed doing hand quilting and caring for her family and her
home. Ina was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister,
and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. She will
be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved
her. Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery.

Inez Ruth:
Inez
Ruth Davidson, daughter of John Warren and Millie Florence Poer Robertson,
was born Aug 6, 1911 near Norwood, MO. She departed this life Sunday,
Nov 16, 1997 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age
of 86 years, 3 months and 10 days. On Feb 20, 1928, she was united
in marriage to Frank Otto Davidson and to this union 3 sons and 3 daughters
were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband
Frank on Nov 18, 1970; 2 granddaughters Sheryl and Dana Davidson; a great-granddaughter
Stephanie; 3 brothers Merle, Earl, and Orville Robertson. Inez is
survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law Vern and Harriett Davidson of Hartville,
MO, Eldon and Verna Davidson of Dunn, MO, and Delmer and Barbara Davidson
of Willard, MO; 3 daughters Virginia Sanders of West Plains, MO, Vinita
Whittet and her husband Eugene of Ketchum, ID, Betty Batzner and her husband
Ron of Payette, ID; a sister Faye Rutter of Leavenworth, KS; 21 grandchildren;
a number of great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as
a host of other relatives and friends. She was born near Norwood,
MO, in the Pleasant Hill Community, where she lived all of her childhood
years and much of her adult life. In 1953, she and her fammily moved
to Idaho for several years, and later returned to Wright County.
For the last 9 years, she has resided in Hartville, MO. Inez had
made her profession of faith in Christ and attended the Pleasant Hill Community
Church near Norwood. Services were discontinued for a while and she
moved from that area. She was a gifted musician, playing guitar,
banjo and organ. For many years she played the organ for church services
at Pleasant Hill Church. She had also served for several years as
secretary for the annual school reunion of the Pleasant Hill Community
School. Her family was very special to her and she cherished the
time spent with them. In her spare time she enjoyed writing, sewing
and growing beautiful flowers. She was also blessed with other great
talents; a wonderful memory, and beautiful penmanship. She never
forgot a birthday, holiday, or special event, and every card she received
was special to her, and had been kept and treasured. As a young girl,
she began keeping a diary and continued this until her recent illness.
The life and times of her family has all been carefully recorded in her
lovely penmanship. Inez was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly
remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Artie
Ethel Davis, daughter of Jonathan Anderson and Mary Ellen Evans Moore,
was born Jun 29, 1894 in Wright County, MO. She departed this life
Aug 18, 1989 in her home near Hartville, MO at the age of 95 years, 1 month
and 19 days. On Dec 7, 1919 she was united in marriage to Elmer Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer; 4 brothers
and 2 sisters. Ethel is survived by 2 sisters Fay Shelby, Mountain
Grove, MO and Polly Parrott, Beeville, TX; 4 nieces and 2 nephews; also
a host of other relatives and friends. During her early adult years
and for a while after she was married, Ethel taught school in Wright County,
MO. She and Elmer moved to Oklahoma during the first years of their
marriage and worked in the oil fields. Later they returned to the
Hartville area and bought the family farm. Ethel was also employed
at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, MO for some time before her retirement
back to the farm. At an early age she was baptized and made her peace
with the Lord. She enjoyed working in her home and in her yard.
She particularly liked to grow flowers and to spend time in her garden.
Ethel will be fondly remembered as a loving sister, aunt and a caring friend.

Dea Davis, son of Tillman L. and Margaret Josephine Williams Davis, was
born Feb 9, 1904 in Wright County, MO. He departed this life Apr
23, 1993 in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO at the
age of 89 years, 2 months and 14 days. On Aug 21, 1930, he was united
in marriage to Anna Josephine Maher and to this union 3 sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna on Oct 25, 1981;
2 sons Robert Dennis and Thomas Tillman Davis; 2 brothers Thomas and Lloyd
Davis; and 6 sisters Saundra Thomas, Nora Warner, Josephine Smith, Lorene
Cravens, Nina Dennett and Lilian Claxton. Barney is survived by 1
son Barney E. Davis and his wife Rose of Kansas City, KS; 1 daughter-in-law
Naomia Davis of Kansas City, KS; 3 brothers Jake Davis of Hartville, MO,
Paul Davis of Grovespring, MO, and Henry Davis of Springfield, MO; 7 grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as
a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in
Wright County near Hartville, MO and then in 1932 moved to New York where
he met and married Anna. They later moved to Detroit, MI where he
was employed by the Chrysler Corporation. In 1946 he and Anna moved
back to the family farm in Wright County where they finished raising their
family and eventually retired. Barney devoted his life to Christ
at an early age and was a lontime member of the Church of Christ.
He was an active part of the Claxton Church and faithfully attended services
there for as long as his health allowed. In his younger years he
enjoyed fox hunting and always found pleasure in bowling. He liked
working on his farm and greatly loved the outdoors. Barney was a
devoted family man and a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly
remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Emily
Edith Davis, daughter of Andrew and Ethel Mae Brooks Browitt, was born
Dec 12, 1923, in Hartville, MO. Sh departed this life Monday, Sep
4, 1995 in Meadowbrook Manor in Ava, MO, at the age of 71 yers, 8 months
and 22 days. On Oct 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ancil
Davis and to this union one son and one daughter were born. She was
preceded in death by her father; a brother Sylvester Browitt; and a sister
Velma Todd. Emily is survived by her mother Ethel Browitt of Ava,
MO, but formerly of Hartville; a son Robert Davis of Hartville, MO; a daughter
Brenda Davis of Springfield, MO; a brother and sister-in-law Lester and
Mary Browitt of Hartville, MO; 2 sisters Gladys Dixson of Evanston, WY,
and Jewell Lowrance and her husband Gayford of Springfield, MO; a number
of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
For the last several years, Emily had made her home in Meadowbrook Manor
in Ava. She loved her family very much and always enjoyed their visits.
She enjoyed flowers and liked to do hand work. Emily was a loving
daughter, mother, sister and aunt, and will be deeply missed by all those
who knew and loved her. Burial: Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Eugene
Evans Davis, son of Noah Wright and Edith Ellen Evans Davis, was born Jan
27, 1929, near Hartville, MO. He departed this life Tuesday, Sep
3, 1996, in a logging accident near McComb, MO, at the age of 67 years,
7 months and 6 days. On Apr 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to
Pearl Lucille Curtis and to this union two daughters were born. He
was preceded in death by his parents. Gene is survived by his wife
Lucille of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Trudy and Stanley Carmon
of Mountain Grove, MO, and Ronda and Verrell Kelley of Norwood, MO; two
granddaughters Penny and Shelly Carmon; two grandsons Matt and Brandon
Kelley; a sister Betty Fatley of Hartville, MO; a number of nieces and
nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was
born and raised near Hartville and attended Hartville Schools. For
seven years, early in his life, he hauled milk in Wright County.
After he and Lucille were married, they made their home on their family
farm near Hartville, and lovingly raised their daughters. For many
years, Gene had worked in the logging business. Gene was saved as
a child and was of the Baptist faith. Later in his life he attended
the New Hope Baptist Church. He was a generous contributor to the
good of the community and young people in particular. He donated
to the community the land where Davis Field, the tennis court, the volleyball
court, and another ballpark are located. He devotedly loved and cared
for his wife and family; and enjoyed fishing, caring for his cattle, being
outdoors, and working as a logger. In his spare time he enjoyed going
to the coffee shop to visit with his friends. Gene was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and
friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those
who knew and loved him. Burial: Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Thomas Davis, son of Lum and Bertie Simmons Davis, was born Feb 19, 1914
in Hardinsburg, KY. He departed this life Jan 1, 1990 in Cox Medical
Center, South, Springfield, MO, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 12
days. On Jun 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Mae
Stone. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers Louis,
Nat and Morris Davis; and 1 sister Jane Armes. Richard is survived
by his wife Kathleen of the home; 2 sons Larry Davis, Springfield, MO and
Floyd Davis, Memphis, TN; 2 daughters Geraldine Valdivia, Topeka, KS, and
Carolyn Palmer, Overland Park, KS; 3 sisters Eula Jolly, Hardinsburg, KY,
Margaret Driscoll, Indianapolis, IN, and Neta Armes, Hardinsburg, KY; 11
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He grew up in Kentucky
and then moved to California where he met and married Kathleen. In
1950 they moved to Topeka, KS, and then later to Kansas City. In
1971 Richard retired from the Continental Baking Company and moved to Hartville,
MO. Richard professed his faith in God and was an active member of
the Mount Zion Baptist Church. He had been a member of the board
of directors at the church for some time. He was a member of the
Teamsters Retiree Club and was active in community work. In his spare
time he enjoyed gardening. Richard will be fondly remembered as a
loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a caring
friend. Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Arthur Davis, son of Tillman and Margaret Williams Davis, was born Jun
2, 1914 near Hartville, MO. He departed this life Oct 29, 1990 in
St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO, at the age of 76 years,
3 months and 27 days. In June of 1980 he was united in marriage to
Verla J. Halverson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his
wife Bertha Duncan in 1979; one son Wallace; one brother Lloyd; and 4 sisters
Nina, Nora, Lillian and Lorene. Thomas is survived by his wife Verla
of the home; 2 sons Edwin and Richard Davis, both of Hartville, MO; 1 daughter
Sue Gravens, Springfield, MO; 3 step-sons; 1 step-daughter; 4 brothers
Barney, Jake and Paul Davis, all of Hartville, MO, and Henry Davis, Springfield,
MO; 2 sisters Sandra Fararr, Los angeles, CA and Josephine Smith, LaJunta,
CO; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 1 step-great-grandson;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He lived most of
his life in the Hartville area where he owned and operated the family farm.
Thomas was a member of the Shaddy Chapel Church of Christ and enjoyed his
fellowship there. In his spare time he enjoyed coon hunting.
Thomas will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, and a caring friend. Burial: Durbin Cemetery.

Junior Day, son of George Riley and Mattie Lucille Walls Day, was born
Jun 2, 1925 in Wright County, MO. He departed this life Mar 7, 1989
in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO, at the age of 63
years, 9 months and 5 days. On Aug 6, 1949, he married Georgia Helen
Quesenberry and to this union 4 sons were born. He was preceded in
death by his parents; his wife Helen; and 1 sister Iva Cameron. Junior
is survived by 4 sons Charles Lynn, Glen and Jackie of Hartville, MO, and
Steve of Marshfield, MO; 3 sisters Ada Curtis, Mountain Grove, MO, Velma
Renfro and Sybil Farr, both of Hartville, MO; 4 brothers Edgar, Vancouver,
WA, Jess and John, both of Hartville, MO, and Clyde, Sikeston, MO; 3 grandsons
Brian, Derek and Jared; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Junior grew up and lived his life in the Wright County area, where he farmed.
He was saved on Feb 26, 1989. He was a member of the American Legion
and V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being involved at the
Hartville Senior Citizens. Junior will be fondly remembered as a
loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. Burial: Coon

Dale Day, son of George Riley and Mattie Lucille Walls Day, was born Apr
13, 1931, near Hartville, MO. He departed this life Monday, May 19,
1997 in the John J. Pershing Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO, at
the age of 66 years, 1 month and 6 days. On Oct 18, 1980, he was
united in marriage to Louise Thompson Mullendore, and together they shared
the last 16 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother
Charley Junior Day; and a sister Iva Cameron. Clyde is survived by
his wife Louise of the home; a step-daughter Vonda Davis of Sikeston, MO;
a step-son Rex Lee Mullendore of Rockford, IL; 7 step-grandchildren; 2
step-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers Edgar Day of Lebanon, OR, Jess and
John Day, both of Hartville, MO, and Billy Gene Moore of the state of Washington;
4 sisters Velma Renfro and Sybil Farr, both of Hartville, MO, Ada Curtis
of Mountain Grove, MO, and Orpha Travis of Carson, Nevada; a number of
nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised near Hartville, in the Coon Creek community area.
He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned to the Hartville
area, where he remained until 1980. After he and Louise were married,
they made their home in Sikeston, MO, for a time and then moved to their
present home in Poplar Bluff, MO. Clyde made his profession of faith
in Christ at a young age, and was baptized into membership in the Green
Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Charleston,
MO, and the American Legion in Sikeston, MO. He enjoyed playing the
guitar and singing, and also liked to go fishing. Clyde was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and
was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and
greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Burial:

Phillip Deckard, son of Henry Allen and Catherine Adeline Stokes Deckard,
was born Mar 5, 1904 near Phillisburg, MO. He departed this life
Monday, Jul 8, 1996 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO, at
the age of 92 years, 4 months and 3 days. On Aug 14, 1937, he was
united in marriage to Bessie Lucille Burtlow and to this union 4 sons and
5 daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his
wife Bessie on Oct 22, 1968; 2 sons Virgil and Billy Deckard; 1 great-grandchild;
3 sisters Lucy Ethel Friend, Della Myrtle Deckard, and Lena Lucille Deckard;
and 1 brother Alfred Leslie Deckard. Calvin is survived by 2 sons
Kenneth Deckard of Hartville, MO, and Arthur Deckard of Kirbyville, MO;
5 daughters Goldie Cannon of Buffalo, MO, Fay Letterman of Sringfield,
MO, Loretta Long of Mansfield, MO, and Peggy Volner and Sue Clift, both
of Hartville, MO; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers
Lonnie Deckard of Hartville, MO, and Lawrence Deckard of Springfield, MO;
6 sisters Alma Weaver, Dollie Berry, Louie Bass and Freda Bass, all of
Sringfield, MO, Lois Hightower of Niangua, MO, and Lola Crawford of Wichita,
KS; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives
and friends. He was born near Hillisburg, MO, and as a child moved
with his family to the Hartville area, where he lived the rest of his life.
He and Bessie eventually made their home on their dairy farm near Hartville,
and lovingly raised their family. Besides farming, he also worked
in timber, cutting stave bolts. Calvin had professed his faith in
Christ and attended the Odin Community Church. In his spare time
he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a devoted family man and loved
having his family around him. Calvin was a loving father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.
He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and

Lee "Tony" Dedmon, son of Roy and Nelda Ann Quillen Dedmon, was born May
9, 1960, in Springfield, MO. He departed this life Tuesday, Jan 21,
1997, in Barnes Hospital South, in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 36 years,
8 months, and 12 days. On Sep 11, 1995, he was united in marriage
to Tracy Michelle Bruns. He was preceded in death by a daughter Angelia
Diane; a sister Cheryl Daniel; his paternal grandparents Austin and Edith
Dedmon; and his maternal grandfather Hearl Quillen. Tony is survived
by his wife Tracy of the home; a daughter Lyndsey Dedmon of the home; 2
step-daughters Skyla Bruns of the home and Thea Antwiler of Warsaw, MO;
his parents Roy and Nelda Dedmon of Hartville, MO; a brother Dennis Dedmon
and his wife Melissa of Hartville, MO, and Pam Dedmon of Kaiser, MO; his
maternal grandmother Ermal Quillen of Hartville, MO; a number of nieces
and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He
was born in Springfield, MO, and raised in Wright County, where he graduated
from Mansfield High School. He later attended Okmulgee State Technical
School, before making his home in Springfield. For the last several
years, he had been employed as a diesel mechanic for the Charter Express
Trucking Company. Tony had made his profession of faith in Christ
and had attended the Hartville Assembly of God Church. He loved reading
his Bible and discussing what he learned from his reading. He possessed
a love for life and a friendly personality which enabled him to never meet
a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed visiting
with his friends. He also liked collecting antique guns. Tony
was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, brother and uncle and was
a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly
missed by all those who knew and loved him. Burial: Steele

Evaline Dedmon, daughter of Ora Simpson and Liza Young Patterson, was born
Jul 19, 1903 in Hartville, MO. She departed this life Jan 28, 1991
in the Webco Manor Nursing Home, Marshfield, MO, at the age of 87 years,
6 months and 9 days. On Apr 9, 1921 she was united in marriage to
Austin E. Dedmon and to this union 2 daughters and 5 sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Austin on Dec 31,
1953; 1 daughter Lois Dedmon Owens; 1 granddaughter Cheryl Daniel; 1 great-granddaughter
Angela Dedmon; 1 sister Daisy Deckard and 3 brothers Ed, Jack and Loyd
Patterson. Edith is survived by 1 daughter Kay Patterson, Marshfield,
MO; 5 sons G.A., Roy and Jack Dedmon, all of Mansfield, MO, Bill Dedmon,
Ava, MO, and Gaylen Dedmon, state of Washington; 1 brother Ralph Patterson,
state of California; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren;
a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and
friends. She lived most of her life in the Wright County area and
was a devoted homemaker who loved her family dearly. Edith had professed
her faith in Christ and had made her peace with the Lord. The center
of her life was her family and especially her children and grandchildren.
She loved spending time visiting and cooking for her family and friends.
Edith will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,

1911 near Competition, MO. She departed this life Wednesday, Oct
16, 1996, in the Green Haven Nursing Home in Springfield, MO, at the age
of 85 years, 6 months and 19 days. On Apr 19, 1930, she was united
in marriage to Oval Delcour, and to this union 2 daughters and 1 son were
born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oval
on Oct 8, 1975; 2 brothers Oval and Ivan Massey; and a son-in-law Ivan
W. Jones. Ferrell is survived by 2 daughters Dottie Jones of Stuart,
FL, and Shirley Honey and her husband Douglas of Springfield, MO; a son
and daughter-in-law Bob and Jerri Delcour of Marshfield, MO; 9 grandchildren
Jelena Jones Curtis, Trenda Jones Siefer, Sheryl Honey-Ellerman, Melissa

and friends. She was born and raised in the Competition area.
Aftr she and Oval were married, they made their home in the New Home community,
near Jerktail, and lovingly raised their family. Throughout her life,
she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. For the last
several years, she had made her home in Springfield to be near her family.
As a child, Ferrell received the Lord as her Savior, and was a longtime
member of the New Home Freewill Baptist Church. Her family was very
important to her and she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and liked cooking for her family.
Ferrell was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother,
sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will
be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the memories she created for
her family and friends will live on forever. Burial: McBride

Franklin Dolway Delcour, son of Rev. Edward and Ludie Mae Dorris Delcour,
was born Nov 1, 1905 near Hartville, MO. He departed this life Mar
17, 1991 in the Springfield Community Hospital, Springfield, MO, at the
age of 85 years, 4 months and 16 days. In 1937 he was united in marriage
to Cora Violet Rayborn and to this union 4 sons and 1 daughter were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Ruth Ward; his
wife Cora in May of 1947; a daughter Rosa May; an infant son Lavone; 3
brothers John, Jerry and Charlie; and an infant sister Dessie. Lee
is survived by 3 sons Carl, Grantville, KS, Arthur, Warrensburg, MO, and
Robert Lee, University City, TX; 1 daughter Florine Raney, Springfield,
MO; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and
raised in Wright County and lived there for most of his life. For
the last several years he lived first in Warrensburg and then in Springfield,
MO. Lee worked in the motor pool at Fort Leonard Wood, MO during
WWII. From 1954 until his retirement, he drove a school bus for the
Hartville School System. Lee will be fondly remembered and missed

Josie
Mae Detherage, daughter of John Mike and Polly Ann Seals Pearson, was born
Mar 28, 1904, in Tazewell, TN. She departed this liife Dec 23, 1992,
in the Springfield Park Care Center in Springfield, MO, at the age of 88
years, 8 months and 25 days. On Mar 27, 1925, she was united in marriage
to Ernest J. Detherage and to this union 5 daughters were born. She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Sep 16, 1972; 1 grandson
Terry Millsap; 1 infant brother; and 1 sister Martha Gross. Josie
is survived by 5 daughters Edna Millsap of Independence, MO, Wilma Adamson
of Springfield, MO, Dorothy Adamson of Rogersville, MO, Carol Adamson of
Ava, MO, and Sue Lathrom of Hartville, MO; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren;
2 nieces; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was
born and raised in Tennessee and then, at the age of 13, moved with her
family to Douglas County near Norwood, MO. She attended the Ava High
School and graduated with the class of 1923. For a few yers following
graduation, she taught school at the Huffman School and the Oak Forest
School. After Josie and Ernest were married, they lived in Kansas
until 1930 when they moved back to Douglas County. In 1960, they
made their home in Mansfield where Josie lived until 4 years ago.
For 3 years she made her home with her daughter, Sue, in Hartville before
moving to Springfield last year. Josie made her profession of faith
at an early age and was a faithful member of the Glad Hill Freewill Baptist
Church. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health allowed.
She loved to make quilts and to crochet, which she did with her 5 daughters.
The six of them were almost a quilting club of their own. She also
enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. Josie was a devoted
and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and was a caring
neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed
by all those who knew and loved her. Burial: Friendship Cemetery.

Dillard Dixon, son of Isaac Floyd and Ibby Lizabeth Dodson Dixon, was born
Sep 2, 1902, near Sneedville, TN. He departed this life Sunday, Mar
9, 1997, in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the
age of 94 years, 6 months and 7 days. On Dec 4, 1929, he was united
in marriage to Lillie Icel Renfrow and to this union 2 sons and 3 daughters
were born. On Dec 4, 1996, Arvis and Lillie celebrated their 67th
wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents; an
infant son Carl Dean Dixon; a sister Tennie Baker; and 3 brothers Mac,
Roper, and Roy Dixon. Arvis is survived by his wife Lillie of the
home; his son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Helen Dixon of Hartville, MO;
his 3 daughters and sons-in-law Jean and Leo Coy, Janet and Art Vandergrift,
and Glenda and Stanley Jones, all of Hartville, MO; 9 grandchildren Galen
Dixon, Lisa Jones, Becky, Rachel, and Aaron Jones, Norman and Gary Coy,
and David and William Vandergrift; a step-granddaughter Mary Thornton;
4 great-grandchildren Heath and Whitney Coy and Joni and Jeni Dixon; a
step-great-granddaughter Jordan Thornton; a brother Ike Dixon of Ava, MO;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in
Tennessee and, at the age of 4, moved with his family to Douglas County,
MO, where he graduated from the Ava High School. For 4 years he taught
in country schools in Douglas County, including St. James and Huffman Schools.
While he was teaching, he met and married Lillie and they later made their
home on their dairy farm where they lovingly raised their family.
For many years, he continued to operate his dairy farm even after entering
the ministry. Arvis was saved as a teenager and was a longtime member
of the Hartville First Freewill Baptist Church. He surrendered to
the call to the ministry and was ordained on May 24, 1942. Throughout
the years, he pastored at several Baptist churches in Douglas and Wright
County including: Antioch, New Hope, Glendale, Cold Springs, Corinth,
Shiloh, Pine Flat, Cedar Gap and Green Valley. In 1957, he and Lillie
opened the Dixon Cafe in Mansfield and operated it for 9 years. Then
in 1966, they sold their cafe and moved to their present home in Hartville,
where Arvis worked with his son in Wayne's TV Shop. For several years
he served as the city collector for Hartville. In 1973, he started
to work for the Green Thumb program and continued with them for 10 years.
During this time, he was presented an award for being the oldest worker
with the Green Thumb organization. He was a member of the Hartville-Senior
citizens and enjoyed playing pool and visiting with his friends.
He also was an avid reader. His family was very important to him
and he loved spending time with them. Arvis was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He will be fondly
remembered as a devoted family man, a caring Pastor, and a good friend,
and will be greatly missed. Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery.

Eileen Dorris, daughter of Andrew Earl and Velma Agnes Owens Barnett, was
born May 20, 1930 near Norwood, MO. She departed this life Saturday,
Nov 20, 1993, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO, at the age
of 63 years and 6 months. On Aug 21, 1959, she was united in marriage
to William Wayne Dorris, and to this union 2 sons were born. She
was preceded in death by her husband Wayne on Apr 8, 1982. Eileen
is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Julie Dorris of
Fair Grove, MO, and Bill and Teresa Dorris of Hartville, MO; her parents
Earl and Velma Barnett of Mountain Grove, MO; 1 brother Jack Barnett of
Norwood, MO; 3 sisters Ruby McKinney and Barbara Bandy, both of Mountain
Grove, MO, and Earline Moore of Mansfield, MO; 2 grandchildren Hannah and
Andrew Dorris; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other
relatives and friends. She was born on the family farm near Norwood,
MO, and continued to live there until her marriage in 1959. Wayne
and Eileen made their new home on a farm north of Hartville in the Jerktail
community, where they lovingly raised their family. In 1984, Eileen
moved from the farm into Hartville where she lived for several years.
In July of 1990, she made her home in Mountain Grove, MO. Eileen
had profesed her faith in Christ, and was a member of the Hartville First
Christian Church. She was a devoted mother who loved her family very
muich. She especially enjoyed spending time with her 2 grandchildren,
Hannah and Andrew. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and doing handwork.
Eileen will be fondly remembered as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother,
and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be greatly
missed by all of her family and many friends. Burial: Oak Grove

Lee Dugger, son of Ray Farris and Georgia Lee Dudley Dugger, was born May
26, 1930 in Hartville, MO. He departed this life Jul 3, 1991 in St.
John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the age of 61 years,
1 month and 7 days. On Jun 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to
Lois Evelyn Gann and to this union 5 children were born. He was preceded
in death by his parents and 3 sisters Lillie June, Wilda Mae and Phyllis
Dugger. Harry is survived by his wife Lois of the home; 3 daughters
Virginia Lee Wilson of Norwood, MO, Carol Ann Johnston of Mountain Grove,
MO, and Brenda Sue Barnes of Ventura, CA; 2 sons Gary Lee Dugger of Hartville,
MO and Vernon Dale Dugger of Fresno, CA; 3 brothers Paul Dugger of Columbus,
OH, Harold Dugger of La Puente, CA, and R. G. Dugger of Hartville, MO;
3 sisters Lyliss Gass of Essex, MO, Lillian Betts of Toledo, OH, and Pattie
Hodkin of Rogersville, MO; 10 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and
4 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host
of relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Hartville, MO,
and then served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marines from 1947 until
1950. Following their marriage, Harry and Lois first made their home
in North Carolina, then in 1950 they moved to Toledo, OH, and later to
Idaho Falls, ID. For 33 years Harry worked as a truck driver.
He was affiliated with the Baptist faith and had made his peace with the
Lord. Harry and Lois returned to the Hartville area where Harry sold
fruits and vegetables for a number of years. During his younger years,
he and the whole family had been involved actively in the Boy Scouts of
America and Harry had served as Scout Master. He enjoyed the outdoors
and liked fishing and trapping. He was a devoted family man and loved
his family dearly. Harry will be fondly remembered as a loving husband,
father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a caring friend.

Otis Dugger, son of Arthur Edgar and Pearl Nevada Moore Dugger, was born
Dec 4, 1916, in Wright County, MO. He departed this life Jul 17,
1992 in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the age
of 75 years, 7 months and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his
parents; and 2 sisters Marie and Dessie Ruth Dugger. Otis is survived
by one son Steven Patrick Dugger of Hartville, MO; one brother Eugene Dugger
of Hartville, MO; one sister Lavelle Headley of Hartville, MO; a number
of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived most of his life in Wright County except for a short time that
he made his home in California. Throughout his life he was a self-employed
salesman and traveled around the southwest Missouri area selling tires.
Otis had made his peace with the Lord and was ready to meet his Maker.
He was a friendly person who greatly enjoyed being around people.
He was a devoted father whose love for his son kept him going through all
of his sickness. In his younger years, he used to enjoy coon hunting
and also liked to go fishing. Otis was a loving father, brother and
uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered
and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Thankfully,
there is a way for everyone to have eternal life where there is no sickness

Dean Dugger, son of Charley Thomas and Susie Annie Coffman Dugger, was
born May 30, 1943, near Hartville, MO. He departed this life Sunday,
Jan 7, 1996 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO, at the age
of 52 years, 7 months and 7 days. On Sep 1, 1961, he was united in
marriage to Judy Marie Kelsay and to this union 3 sons and 1 daughter were
born. He was preceded in death by his father Charley T. Dugger; a
brother Gerald Dugger; and an infant half-sister. Veral is survived
by his wife of 34 years, Judy, of the home; 3 sons Rick and Mike Dugger,
both of Hartville, MO, and Tracy Dugger of Mansfield, MO; a daughter Faith
Curtner of Seymour, MO, 4 grandchildren Ricky, Jr., Joshua, Kelsay and
Heath Dugger; his mother Susie Dugger of Mansfield, MO; 3 brothers Donald
and Fred Dugger, both of Salt Lake City, UT, and E. C. Dugger of Springfield,
MO; 2 sisters Barbara Greenhall and Velma Morefield, both of Springfield,
MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives
and friends. He was born and raised in Wright County and continued
to live there until after he and Judy were married. In 1962, he and
Judy moved near Boonville, where he worked at the Bobbin Heel Factory for
15 years. In 1977, they returned to Hartville and he was employed
by Mansfield Steel Company and the Tobin Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield.
Veral had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended services
at the First Freewill Baptist Church of Hartville in his younger years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed trading and swapping, and liked collecting
all kinds of things. He was devoted to his family and loved spending
time with his children and grandchildren. Veral was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor
and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly mised by all
of his family and many friends. Burial: Wynne Cemetery.

Dunn, son of George Sherman and Phoebe Rowena Jones Dunn; was born Sep
20, 1917 near Odin, MO. He departed this life Saturday, Mar 11, 1995,
in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO, at the age of 77 years,
5 months, and 21 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5
brothers Clarence, Clifford, Tom "Waldo", Glenn and Hadley "Fritz" Dunn;
and a niece Glenda Dunn. Gayford is survived by his sister Effie
Todd of Hartville, MO; 3 nephews Don Dunn of Mountain Grove, MO, Noel Dunn
and Dwaine Dunn, both of Marshfield, MO; 5 nieces Beulah Walker of Richardson,
TX, Rosalie Fangmeire of Bartlesville, OK, Marilyn Morris of Springfield,
MO, Patty Odom of Rogersville, MO, and Brenda Clark of Fordland, MO; as
well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised
in the Odin community and lived his early adult years there. He served
his country faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Force from Jan 27, 1943, until
Feb 22, 1946, during World War II. After the war, he returned to
the family farm in Wright County. In 1953, he moved to North Pekin,
IL and was employed in the parts department of the Caterpillar Company
in Peoria for 25 years. He retired on Mar 17, 1978, and moved to
his present home in Hartville. Gayford had professed his faith in
Christ and was a member of the North Pekin Freewill Baptist Church where
he served as a deacon. He later attended the Odin Community Church.
He was a friendly person who greatly enjoyed visiting with his family and
many friends at the Hartville Senior Citizen Center. He liked watching
ballgames, listening to music, and going to the Blue Grass Festival.
Gayford was a loving brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and
friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of
his family and many friends. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Latisha Dunn, daughter of Robert Nevels and Melda Jane Randolph Ward, was
born Feb 13, 1906 in Odin, MO. She departed this life May 20, 1991
in the Mercy Tri-County Hospital, Mansfield, MO, at the age of 85 years,
3 months and 7 days. On Feb 15, 1927, she was united in marriage
to Clifford Nevels Dunn and to this union one son and one daughter were
born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford
on Dec 9, 1982; 3 infant brothers and one other brother Ottis Ward.
Hazel is survived by her son Don Dunn of Mountain Grove, MO; her daughter
Beulah Walker of Richardson, TX; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren;
one nephew Jerry Ward; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a life long resident of Wright County and for most of her life,
she and Clifford made their home on the family farm near Odin, MO.
After having raised their family on the farm, she and Clifford moved to
Mansfield in 1957. Then in 1969 they returned to Hartville and made
that their home until after Clifford's death. In 1984 she moved to
Mountain Grove to be near her son. Hazel was a faithful member of
the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church for many years and greatly enjoyed
her fellowship there. She was a member of the Odin Ladies Quilting
Club and also enjoyed crocheting. While she and Clifford were physically
able, they both liked to attend gospel music sings. She also liked
to work in her garden and especially enjoyed growing beautiful flowers.
Hazel will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
aunt and a caring friend. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

May Durbin, daughter of James Michael and Ollie Isabell Moore Jordan, was
born May 5, 1911 near Hartville, MO. She departed this life on Saturday,
Mar 12, 1994, in St. Joseh Hospital in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 82
years, 10 months and 7 days. On May 16, 1931, she was united in marriage
to Ralph Durbin and to this union one daughter was born. She was
preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers John, Purl and Oscar Jordan;
3 sisters Essie Lindsay, Cora Jones and Dora Robertson. Ola is survived
by her husband of 62 years, Ralph, of the home; daughter and son-in-law
Donna and Terrell Brisco of St. Louis, Mo; 2 granddaughters Tracy Cruz
and her husband David of Fort Campbell, KY, and Toni Brisco of St. Louis,
MO; a sister Bertha Jones of Sringfield, MO; a number of nieces and nephews;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and
raised in Wright County, and had lived there throughout most of her life.
After she and Ralph were married, they spent several years on a farm near
Hartville. In January of 1948, they made their home in Hartville
where they have continued to live through the years. Ola had made
her peace with the Lord and was a member of the Church of Christ.
In her early years she attended the Durbin Church and later attended the
Hartville Christian Church as her health permitted. She greatly enjoyed
growing beautiful flowers, and in her spare time liked to go to Senior
Citizens to visit. Ola centered her life around her family and was
a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring
neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed by all those who
loved and knew her. Burial: Steele Memorial Cemetery.
Durbin, Ralph:
Ralph
Durbin, son of Michael J. and Mary Jane Garner Durbin, was born Jul 16,
1909 near Taylorville, IL. He departed this life Wednesday, Nov 1,
1995, in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of 86 years,
3 months and 15 days. On May 16, 1931, he was united in marriage
to Ola May Jordan and to this union one daughter was born. He was
preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ola May on Mar 12, 1994; 4 brothers
Clyde, Clarence, Walter and Clinton Durbin; and 3 sisters Leona Grimes,
Lattius Chambers and Ora Durbin. Ralph is survived by his daughter
and son-in-law Donna and Terrell Brisco of St. Louis, MO; 2 granddaughters
Tracy Cruz and her husband David of Fort Campbell, KY, and Toni Warren
and her husband Darren of St. Louis, MO; a number of nieces and nephews;
as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in
Illinois and moved with his family to St. George, MO, while a young boy.
As a young man, he began to go wherever he could find work during the depression
years. After he and Ola were married, they moved to Wright County,
where he began farming. Throughout his life, he operated a general
store, worked as a pipe fitter, did construction work, operated a used
car lot, and a farm machinery shop. During his later years, he worked
as a substitute mail carrier. Ralph was a longtime member of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards
and liked the fellowship he found as a member of the Hartville Senior Citizens.
In his spare time, he loved fishing and even traveled to Canada on fishing
trips. He liked to hunt in his younger years, and was an avid fan
of the Cardinals. Ralph was a loving father, grandfather, and uncle,
and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered
and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Burial:

Mae Duren, daughter of Samuel and Hepsabeth Claxton Whittaker, was born
Jul 20, 1894 in Hartville, MO. She departed this life Jan 27, 1990
in Mansfield Nursing Home, Mansfield, MO, at the age of 95 years, 6 months
and 7 days. On Mar 4, 1915, she was united in marriage to Benjamin
Duren and to this union one daughter was born. She was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband Benjamin in 1980; her daughter Wilma
Flake; 2 brothers Noah and Barney Whittaker; 2 infant sisters Nola and
Minnie Whittaker and 4 other sisters Verba Newton, Vernie Buck, Janie Eaton
and Melda Robertson. Bessie is survived by one brother Lee Whittaker,
Hartville, MO; one sister Lola Cantrell, Niangua, MO; two grandsons; six
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a number of nieces
and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She
lived most of her life in Wright County, MO. She professed her faith
in Christ and was a long time member of the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist
Church. Bessie will be fondly remembered and missed by her family
