Edwards, Gerald Dwight:
Gerald Dwight Edwards, son of Earl Henry and Burnice Geneva Floyd Edwards, was born Sep 11, 1927, in Hartville, MO.  He departed this life Aug 21, 1990, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 10 days.  On Apr 17, 1949, he was united in marriage to Freda Pauline Postlewaite and to this union one daughter and one son were born.  He was preceded in death by his father and a half-sister Helen Cantrell.  Gerald is survived by his wife Freda of the home; one daughter and son-in-law Deann and Steve Stigall, Hartville, MO; one son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Debbie Edwards, Hartville, MO; his mother and step-father Burnice and Mervin Cantrell, Hartville, MO; one sister Jerri Sample, Andrews, NC; two grandchildren Chad and Rhonda; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He lived his entire life in the Jerktail area where he operated the family farm.  For 21 years, he and Freda ran the Jerktail General Store and maintained the farm at the same time.  Gerald had made his peace with the Lord and for as long as his health permitted he attended the New Home Freewill Baptist Church.  He enjoyed bird hunting and especially liked hauling cattle.  Gerald will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a caring friend.  Burial:  New Home Cemetery.

Epperly, Wilma Pearl:
Wilma Pearl Epperly, daughter of John Franklin and Nila Orley Skinner Plummer, was born Aug 2, 1927, near Shell Knob, MO.  She departed this life Tuesday, Feb 28, 1995, in her home near Hartville, MO, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 26 days.  On Jan 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence Epperly and to this union two sons and one daughter were born.  She was preceded in death by her father; a sister Vergie Mills; and a brother Murl Plummer.  Wilma is survived by her husband of 47 years, Clarence, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law Rex and Judy Epperly and Russell and Shelly Epperly, all of Hartville, MO; a daughter Diane Hogan of Mountain Grove, MO; her mother Nila Plummer of Mountain Grove, MO; a brother Bill Plummer of Mountain Grove, MO; two sisters Norma Lee Sanders of Mountain Grove, MO and Dona Smiley of Shell Knob, MO; a granddaughter Stacey Epperly of Hartville, MO; 3 grandsons Greg and Rusty Epperly of Hartville, MO, and Kevin Curtis of Mountain Grove, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born and raised in Stone County near Shell Knob, MO, and graduated from high school there.  After she met and married Clarence, they lived in Barry County until 1961 when they moved to Wright County near Hartville.  Throughout the years, she was a devoted wife and homemaker to her family.  Wilma had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Hartville First Freewill Baptist Church.  She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.  In her spare time she liked growing beautiful flowers, painting and sewing for her family.  Wilma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Espinoza, Charlene Audry:
Charlene Audry Espinoza, daughter of Charles and Florence Evelyn Day King, was born Sep 9, 1935, in Fillmore, CA.  She departed this life Tuesday, Feb 4, 1997, in her home in Hartville, MO, at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 25 days.  On Jul 25, 1970, she was united in marriage to Tony Cid Espinoza, and together they shared the last 26 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and two half brothers Darrell and Freeman Cochran.  Charlene is survived by her husband Tony of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Lisa and Steve Todd of Lynchburg, MO and Andyce and Don Tharp of Hartville, MO; 5 grandchildren Lisa, Teresa, and Chris Tharp, and Amber and Nathan Todd; a great-granddaughter Britany Nicole; 5 stepchildren Linda, Richard, June, Martha and Tommy; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born and raised in Fillmore, CA, and graduated from high school there.  After having lived in San Francisco for awhile, she returned to Fillmore, where she met and married Tony.  They continued to live in California until moving to Hartville, MO in 1975.  Since moving to Hartville, she had worked in the composing department of the Lebanon Daily Record Newsaper, and had also worked for the News Journal in Mountain Grove, and the Shoper II in Mansfield.  Throughout the years, she was also a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.  Charlene had made her rofession of faith in Christ and was an active member of the Hilltop Pentecostal Church in Hartville.  She enjoyed the fellowship her church offered and loved working in her church.  In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, decorating and restoring her home, and especially loved playing the piano.  Charlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Fields, Frank Dudley Jr.:
Frank Dudley Fields, Jr., son of Frank Dudley and Laura Bell Faust Fields, was born Jun 15, 1940 in Linn Creek, MO.  He departed this life Tuesday, Oct 25, 1994, in his home near Hartville, MO, at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 10 days.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 sisters Mary Evelyn Fields, Maxine Goldsberry, Irene Long, Lessie Brown, Hazel Davis, and Illene Swanigan; and 2 infant brothers Thomas and Burlee Fields.  Frank is survived by his wife Lois of the home; 2 sons Tony and Chris Fields of Cross Timbers, MO; 3 daughters Gloria Dampler of Tunas, MO, Brenda Parrack of Branch, MO, and Regina Cox of Lebanon, MO; 3 step-sons William Owens of Camdenton, MO, Walter Owens of Phoenix, AZ, and Daniel Langston of the home; a step-daughter Anna Denny of Camdenton, MO; 3 brothers Kenneth, Henry, and Bud Fields, all of Versailles, MO; a sister Grace Hopkins of Wellington, MO; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born in Linn Creek and as a child moved with his family to Versailles.  For several yeaars he made his home in Kansas City before returning to the Versailles and Stover area.  In 1982, he moved to his present home near Hartville.  Throughout his life, he worked as an auto mechanic and operated a repair garage.  He also had worked in the construction business.  Frank had attended the Shaddy Chapel Church of Christ and had made his peace with the Lord.  He greatly enjoyed taking part in Civil War reenactments where he was an engineer with the infantry and helped to fire cannons.  He also liked working on cars, taking care of animals, and visiting with his friends each day at the local restaurant.  Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Shaddy Cemetery.

Fisher, Betty Aleene:
Betty Aleene Fisher, daughter of Edward A. and Ella S. Bolian Claxton, was born Dec 21, 1919 in Wright County, MO.  She departed this life Saturday, Mar 4, 1995 in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 13 days.  On Jul 31, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Arthur Fisher and to this union one son and one daughter were born.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers Anderson, Julian and Harold Claxton; 2 sisters Opal Stewart and Verla Moore; and a granddaughter Jeanne Marie Clinton.  Betty is survived by her husband of 54 years, John, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law Elvin and Shirley Fisher of Hartville, MO; a daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Ted Clinton of Joplin, MO; 3 granddaughters Lanette and Linda Fisher, both of Hartville, MO, and Rhonda Clinton of Joplin, MO; a grandson Jason Clinton of Joplin, MO; a sister Ola Cravens of Hartville, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born and raised in the Elk Creek Township and, at the age of 12, moved with her parents to a farm west of Hartville.  Later, after she and John were married, they made their home on her family's farm where they lovingly raised their children.  Throughout the years, she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.  Betty professed her faith in Christ at Pleasant Hill Church and later joined the First Baptist Church of Hartville.  Working with her husband on the farm was a very important part of her life and she enjoyed being around the cattle.  She liked visiting with her friends and being with folks at the feed store each day.  She also enjoyed planting and working in her garden each year.  Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Fisher, Edwin Harvey:
Edwin Harvey Fisher, son of Charles John and Margaret Clark Fisher, was born Jan 4, 1905 in Wright County, MO.  He departed this life Saturday, Jul 30, 1994 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 26 days.  On Oct 7, 1925, he was united in marriage to Osa Faye Young and to this union two daughters and one son were born.  He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother Little Marion; and two sisters Mae Buck and Eva Purkey.  Edwin is survived by his wife Osa of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Irene and Delmar Brixey of Hartville, MO, and Geneva and William Young of Fair Play, SC; a son and daughter-in-law Jerrel and Betty Fisher of Neosho, MO; a sister Mary Ely of Hartville, MO; a brother John Fisher of Hartville, MO; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised on the famiy farm in Wright County and graduated from the Hartville High School.  While in his early twenties, he met and married Osa and they made their home near Hartville.  For several years, he taught in Wright County at #3 School and the Little Creek School.  From 1932 until 1938, he drove a milk route and then drove a school bus for the Hartville Schools until 1945.  Throughout the years, he worked hard operating his farm and taking care of his home and land.  Edwin had professed his faith in Christ and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hartville.  He was active in all areas of the church including serving as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher.  He enjoyed reading and studying his Bible and liked to talk about the Bible.  He was a devoted family man who found relaxation in fishing.  Edwin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Fisher, Osa Fay:
Osa Fay Fisher, daughter of Albert Woodson and Ada Elsbury Pearman Young, was born Nov 6, 1903 in Wright County, MO.  She departed this life Thursday, Nov 10, 1994 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of 91 years and 4 days.  On Oct 7, 1925, she was united in marriage to Edwin Harvey Fisher and to this union two daughters and one son were born.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin on Jul 30, 1994; 3 sisters Macie Young, Sabert Hargus, and Ruby Coltrane; and one brother Lawson Young.  Osa is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Irene and Delmar Brixey of Hartville, MO, and Geneva and William Young of Fair Play, SC; a son and daughter-in-law Jerrel and Betty Fisher of Neosho, MO; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born and raised in Wright County and lived all of her life on the family homestead near Hartville.  She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and famiy throughout the years.  Osa had professed her faith in Christ and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hartville.  She faithfully attended services and worked in the church for as long as her health would allow.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting and loved cooking for her family and friends.  She liked taking care of her home and her famiy.  Osa was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Floyd, Bobby Dale:
Bobby Dale Floyd, son of Charles Oscar and Ethel Williams Floyd, was born Feb 10, 1932 near Hartville, MO.  He departed this life Monday, Oct 27, 1997 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 17 days.  On May 24, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon Sue Whittaker and together they shared the last 33 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Gerald Floyd.  Bobby is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; two sons Justin Floyd of the home and Brian Floyd of Mountain Grove, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Ross Clark of Mansfield, MO, and Kathy and Mike Hensley of Hartville, MO; 5 grandchildren Brent Coffman, Jessica Floyd, Brittany Hensley, Tracy Bruce and Amanda Floyd; 2 great-grandchildren Brooke Coffman and Braden Bruce; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Lee and Ruth Whittaker of Hartville, MO; a brother Darrell Floyd of Rolla, MO; a sister Dottie Clements of Springfield, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised in the Hartville area and lived all of his life in Wright County.  He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force.  For 39 years, he worked as a machinist for the Brown Shoe Company in Mountain Grove, MO.  Bobby had made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized into the Hartville Free Will Baptist Church.  In his spare time, he enjoyed doing auto body work and wood working projects.  He also enjoyed spending time at the Hartville Senior Citizens where he liked playing pool and being with people and visiting with his friends.  Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.  Burial:  Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Forbes, MaRanda Kaylene:
MaRanda Kaylene Forbes, infant daughter of Randy Lewis and Amanda Kaye Beville Forbes, was born at 11:37 a.m. on Oct 9, 1991 in Houston, MO.  She departed this life at 6:52 a.m. on Oct 10, 1991 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO.  She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandfather Weldon Harris; her maternal great-grandmother Jonnie Mae Wade; and her maternal great-grandfather Vyarl D. Beville.  MaRanda is survived by her parents Randy and Amanda Forbes of Grovespring, MO; her maternal grandparents Frankie and Wendy Beville of Hartville, MO; her paternal grandparents Gary and Mary Forbes of Mountain Grove, MO and Joanne Forbes of Grovespring, MO; her maternal great-grandparents Bob and Naomi Shively of Hartville, MO and Johnnie Wade, Sr., of Homossassa, FL; her paternal great-grandparents Ted and Pauline Forbes of Mountain Grove, MO, and Florence Harris of Grovespring, MO; a number of aunts and uncles; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  Although her time on earth was very short, she had touched the hearts of many and will be lovingly remembered and missed by all those who loved her.  Burial:  Mansfield Cemetery.

Fritz, Macie L.:
Macie L. Fritz, daughter of Elmer T. and Oma Pearson Rippee, was born Dec 14, 1902 in the Pleasant Hill community in Wright County.  She departed this life Oct 13, 1989 in Springfield, MO, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 29 days.  In 1925 she was married to Ray L. Fritz and to this union one son was born.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray; and one brother Oda Rippee.  Macie is survived by one son Elmer Ray Fritz, Hartville, MO; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a niece Phyllis Rippee; a nephew Eldon Rippee; also a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born near Hartville, MO, and lived there most of her life.  She began teaching school after graduating from high school and later attended college.  From 1954 to 1975 she taught school in Wright County and also in the St. Louis area.  Macie had made her peace with the Lord and attended the Church of Christ.  She was a charter member of the Hartville American Legion Auxiliary and attended for more than 50 years.  She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Retired Teacher's Association.  Her hobbies included growing flowers and sewing.  Macie will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and caring friend.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Fuge, Emogene:
Emogene Fuge, daughter of Thomas and Verna Wynne Jones, was born Aug 21, 1908, near Hartville, MO.  She departed this life Wednesday, Sep 11, 1996, in Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, MO, at the age of 88 years and 20 days.  On Mar 31, 1929, she was united in marriage to I. W. "Buster" Fuge and to this union one daughter was born.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband "Buster" on Mar 29, 1981; a sister Irene Grant; and a grandson Mark Whitaker.  Emogene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jean Ann and Ron Whitaker of Chaffee, MO; a grandson Steven Whitaker and his wife Karen of Chaffee, MO; two great grandchildren Bret and Stefanie Whitaker, both of Chaffee, MO; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born on the family farm near Hartville and lived most of her life in the Wright County area.  She attended the Claxton School for a short time before transferring to the Hartville Schools, where she graduated from the Hartville High School in the Class of 1926.  She attended Oklahoma State College and Southwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Springfield and then graduated from Drury College.  From 1928 until 1991, she taught, or was involved with, the Hartville Schools and had also taught in Mangum, OK.  For many years, she and her husband "Buster" owned and operated the Fuge Grocery Store in Hartville.  Emogene had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime member of the Hartville United Methodist Church.  She worked actively in many areas of her church and greatly enjoyed the fellowship it offered.  She was involved in many area clubs including: the Hartville Garden Club, Wright County Historical Society, Morley, MO Chapter of the Eastern Star #342, the Hartville Rebekah Lodge #236, the Twentieth Century Club, the Athenian Club, the Wright County Retired Teachers Association, the Missouri State Teachers Association, the Sringfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Mountain Grove Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher's sorority.  Her family was very important to her and she greatly loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing handwork projects, and possessed a wonderful talent for growing beautiful flowers.  She was a tremendous supporter of Hartville, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Wright County and its citizens, and was often called upon to help families with their genealogy.  Emogene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Fullington, David Edward:
David Edward Fullington, son of Edward and Sally Trusty Fullington, was born Oct 18, 1913 in Hartville, MO.  He departed this life Oct 28, 1992 in his home in Hartville, MO, at the age of 79 years and 10 days.  On Jun 10, 1943, he was united in marriage to Laura Eveline Crapo and to this union 3 sons and 5 daughters were born.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter Charlotte Mae; 3 sisters Mabel, Nancy and Mary; and 3 brothers George, John and Elmer.  David is survived by his wife Laura of the home; 3 sons Charles Frances and Jesse Leroy Fullington, both of the home, and David Edward Fullington, Jr., of Springfield, MO; 5 daughters Elsie Lee Tooley, Betty Jean Hill and Mary Jane Smith, all of Warsaw, MO, Joan Reed of Cardin, OK, and Ava Ray Fullington of Springfield, MO; 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised in Hartville and lived all of his life in the Wright County area.  For most of his life he had worked at farming.  David attended the Church of God and had made his peace with the Lord.  He enjoyed his farm work and also liked to go fishing.  He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time visiting with his family and friends.  David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.  Burial:  Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Gann, Mandy Melissa Battrell:
Mandy Melissa Batrell Gann, daughter of Bill and Betty Trusty Woolard, was born Jul 12, 1908 in Wright County, MO.  She departed this life Aug 27, 1993 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 15 days.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her 4 husbands Ralph Battrell, John Delcour, Bob Harling and Louis Gann; and one step-brother Edward.  Mandy is survived by a sister Mary Whitington of Adair, OK; 2 sisters-in-law Ruby Nell Vance of Lebanon, MO, and Perlie Weatherman of Hartville, MO; a cousin Bertha Smith of Mansfield, MO; 7 step-sons Jack, John, Steve, Phil, Tracy, Francis and "Bro"; 3 step-daughters Beverly, Barbara and Wilma; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She lived all of her life in Wright County and was a devoted homemaker to each of her husbands.  Mandy had made her peace with the Lord and had attended the Red Hill Church and the Shaddy Chapel Church of Christ when her health allowed.  She enjoyed having her family around her and especially loved the children.  She liked to do quilting and loved visiting with her family and friends.  Throughout her 85 years, she had touched many lives.  Mandy will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.  Burial:  Boyer Cemetery.

Gardner, Thetta Ann:
Thetta Ann Gardner, daughter of Warren and Sadie Boyer Stanley, was born Sep 17, 1908, near Fair Grove, MO.  She departed this life Friday, Mar 28, 1997, in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, MO, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 11 days.  On May 4, 1927, she was united in marriage to William T. Gardner and to this union 4 sons were born.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Will in April of 1981; a son Charles Gardner; and a brother Eugene "Bud" Stanley.  Thetta is survived by 3 sons and their wives Donald and Faye Gardner of Grovespring, MO, Ernest and Nola Gardner of Union, MO, and Bill and Dorothy Gardner of Memphis, TN; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother W. J. Stanley of Camdenton, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  Thetta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  Burial:  Boyer Cemetery.

Garner, George Dean:
George Dean Garner, son of Monroe and Versa Wynn Garner, was born Jan 13, 1929 near St. George, MO.  He departed this life Aug 27, 1992 in his home near Grovespring, MO, at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 14 days.  On Sep 6, 1949, he was united in marriage to Avis Bonnell Robertson and to this union 4 sons and 3 daughters were born.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Garland Garner.  George is survived by his wife Avis of the home; 3 daughters Shirley Sharp of Grovespring, MO, Connie Forrester of Ozark, MO, and DeAnna Stowe of Lebanon, MO; 4 sons Lynn and Keith Garner, both of Lebanon, MO, Kenny Garner of Eldon, MO, and Robbie Garner of Marshfield, MO; 2 sisters Olga Yeager and Venita Clark, both of Hartville, MO; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised in the St. George area and lived there until after he and Avis were married.  For a short time, he and Avis lived in Lebanon before returning to Wright County and making their home near Elk Creek.  For over 30 years, he was employed by the H.D. Lee Company, starting with the Rice Stix Factory in Lebanon and then transferring to the Hartville plant from which he retired on Jan 1, 1991.  George was saved as a child and attended the Pleasant Grove (Cope) Freewill Baptist Church in his early years.  He was a devoted family man and was content just being at home and working on the farm.  He enjoyed reading and also liked to fish.  George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and his many friends.  Burial:  Durbin Cemetery.

Gates, Charles Bernis:
Charles Bernis Gates, son of Norman Gates and Gladys Eaton Gates Johnson, was born Jul 14, 1925 in Hartville, MO.  He departed this life on Jun 12, 1989 in his home in Hartville, MO at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 28 days.  Bernis was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister in the late 1920's.  He is survived by his mother Gladys Johnson, Mountain Grove, MO; one son Michael Gates; one brother Beuford Gates, New London, MO; two sisters Bessie Fern Stigall and Bonnie Jean Daugherty, both of Hartville, MO; also a host of other relatives and friends.  Bernis was born and raised in the Hartville area and following his graduation from high school, he taught from 1946 until 1947 in the Johnson School.  For several years in the 1950's, he was the Wright County Librarian and during those years he became acquainted with and developed a personal friendship with Laura Ingalls Wilder.  From 1957 until 1962 Bernis resided in the Hannibal/St. Louis area and then for the next 30 years, he lived in Hillsboro, MO.  He was employed in St. Louis, MO, as a civil service employee doing cataloging.  Returning to Hartville in 1988, he became a very active member of the Hartville Senior citizens and was currently serving as president of the organization.  Bernis worked diligently in helping instigate the construction of the senior citizen's new building.  He had made his peace with the Lord and was a former member of the Hartville First Baptist Church.  He enjoyed gardening, raising and distributing exotic birds, raising dogs, and being outdoors.  His greatest love of all was just being with people.  Bernis will be fondly remembered as a loving son, brother, and a special friend to all who knew him.  Burial:  Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Gates, Franklin Oliver:
Franklin Oliver Gates, son of Maurice John and Grace Catherine Corbett Gates, was born Jul 16, 1928 in Clay, NY.  He departed this life Sunday, Aug 27, 1995 in his home in Hartville, MO, at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 11 days.  On Aug 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Ladd, and to this union 6 daughters and 2 sons were born.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Deanna Owens; and a grandson Matthew Cook.  Frank is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; 6 daughters Cheryl Bohannon of Waynesville, MO, Carol Owens of Mansfield, MO, Marcia Dunn of Lebanon, MO, Janis Goodman of Branson, MO, Patricia Redden of Hartville, MO, and Nancy Crawford of Springfield, MO; 2 sons Terry Gates of Hartville, MO and Maurice John Gates of Mountain Grove, MO; a brother Donald Gates of Pulaski, NY; a sister Mary Jane Mueller of Burton, NY; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born on a farm in New York and continued to live there until 1961, when he moved to a farm near Hartville, MO.  In 1978, he and Barbara moved into Hartville where they continued to make their home.  He began employment with the Hartville Schools in 1968 and worked as a custodian until retiring in 1990.  Frank had professed his faith in Christ and had attended the Hartville United Methodist Church for the last several years.  He was very close to his family and loved spending time with them.  He also enjoyed working on his farm.  Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Gatlin, Arthur Daniel "Art", Sr.:
Arthur Daniel "Art" Gatlin, Sr., son of James Richard and Mary Bessie Matthews Gatlin, was born Sep 3, 1939 in Detroit, MI.  He departed this life Sunday, Mar 31, 1996, in the Belton Research Hospital in Belton, MO, at the age of 56 years, 6 months and 28 days.  On Apr 18, 1981, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Moore and together they shared almost 15 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother James Gatlin; and 3 sisters Mary Lou Smith, Lois Clemmons, and Ruth Ellen Gatlin.  Art is survived by his wife Ruth Ann of the home; 4 daughters Mary Ann Gatlin of Cabool, MO, Debra Bailey of Kansas City, KS, Ruth Ellen Gatlin of Lee's Summit, MO and Teresa Townsend of Boonville, AR; 5 sons Bruce Gatlin and Arthur Gatlin, Jr., both of Springhill, KS, Matt Gatlin of Norwood, MO, Jim Gatlin of Kansas City, KS, Danny Gatlin, Jr., of Independence, MO; 17 grandchildren; 3 sisters Barbara Harris and Molly Kirby, both of Independence, MO and Martha Downs of Arlington, TX; 2 brothers David Gatlin of Ottawa, KS and John Gatlin of Rigby, ID; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised in Michigan, and then lived in various different places, including the Kansas City area for several years.  While living in Kansas City, he met and married Ruth Ann, and for a while they made their home in Texas, before moving to Wright County from 1984 until 1994.  For the last two years, the family had made their home in Raymore, MO.  For 30 years, he had worked as a truck driver, until recently retiring.  Art made his profession of faith in Christ at an early age, and was baptized.  He had worked in several churches in his lifetime, but was a member of the Southland Baptist Church in Belton, MO, at the time of his passing.  He loved going to church, studying his Bible, and witnessing and sharing his faith.  He also worked in the Boy Scout program for several years.  He was a devoted famiy man and was extremely proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.  He centered his life around his family and serving the Lord.  Art was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Moore Cemetery.

Gibbs, William Francis:
William Francis Gibbs, son of William Pollard and Alpha Mae Nichols Gibbs was born May 27, 1939 in Vandalia, MO.  He departed this life Wednesday, Apr 19, 1995, in his home in Hartville, MO, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 22 days.  On Mar 8, 1992, he was united in marriage to Clara Ann Oetker.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.  Bill is survived by his wife Clara of the home; his mother Alpha Gibbs of Hartville, MO; a son James Dale Gibbs of Vandalia, MO; a daughter Christina Lynn Gibbs of Branson, MO; a step-son Kyle Dodds of Mountain Grove, MO; a brother Robert Gibbs of Old Monroe, MO; a sister Vivian Doversberger of Washington, IL; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  Bill accepted Christ as his Savior as a young boy.  He was raised near Vandalia, MO, and attended the Butler Grade School.  He received his high school education from the Perry High School in Perry, MO.  After his graduation from high school, he went to work for the M.F.A. Company in Perry, MO, as well as working on the farm until his health failed.  In 1978 he moved his family to Cottonwood, AZ.  While living there he attended the First Baptist Church in Rimrock, AZ, where he taught Sunday school and drove the church bus.  In October of 1983 the family moved to Hartville, MO.  He was a member of the Hartville Church of God, where he enjoyed his church fellowship.  One of his greatest loves was working with wood.  He spent many hours making toys, and other wood projects for people.  Also, in his spare time, he enjoyed antique tractors and going to truck and tractor pulls.  Bill was a loving husband, son, father, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all his family and many friends.  Burial:  Grandview Buial Park, Hannibal MO.

Gibbs, William Pollard:
William Pollard Gibbs, son of Walter Franklin and Julia C. Lively Gibbs, was born May 27, 1909 in Center, MO.  He departed this life Dec 6, 1992 in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 9 days.  On Oct 23, 1928, he was united in marriage to Alpha Mae Nichols and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters Agnes Smith and Faye Davis; and 3 brothers Everett, Claude and Kenneth Gibbs.  Pollard is survived by his wife Alpha of the home; one daughter Vivian Doversberger of Peoria, IL; 2 sons William Francis Gibbs of Hartville, MO, and Robert Darrel Gibbs of Old Monroe, MO; one brother Roscoe Gibbs of New London, MO; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised in Ralls County, MO, and then lived in the Vandalia area for over 37 years.  For 5 years he and Alpha made their home in Rimrock, AZ, before moving to the Hartville, MO area in 1983.  Throughout his life, he worked at farming until 1978 when he retired.  Pollard was a member of the Union Chapel Christian Church near Center, MO, but since moving to Hartville, he had attended the Hartville Church of God when his health permitted.  He was devoted to his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with them.  In earlier years, he liked to coon hunt.  Pollard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Grandview Burial Park, Hannibal MO.

Gibler, Leslie Roland, Sr.:
Leslie Roland Gibler, Sr., son of Ivan William and Goldie Marie Schrabel Gibler, was born Jun 24, 1921 in Lawrence, KS.  He departed this life Jul 25, 1993 in his home in Hartville, MO, at the age of 72 years, 1 months and 1 day.  On Apr 6, 1967, he was united in marriage to Ona Mae "Pete" Inskeep.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son Forrest William Gibler; one other son Ivan Gibler; one brother Ivan Gibler; and two sisters Opal Owens and Harriett Pettengill.  Leslie is survived by his wife, Ona Mae "Pete" of the home; 3 sons Leslie Gibler, Jr. of San Diego, CA, David Gibler of Lawrence, KS and Timothy Gibler of the home; one daughter Tonya Gibler of Springfield, MO; one brother Bob Gibler of Lawrence, KS; 4 sisters Betty Crum, Arletta Owens, Leona Campbell and Charlotte Muckey, all of Lawrence, KS; his mother-in-law Blanche Jennings of Hartville, MO; 9 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised near Lawrence in Douglas County, KS.  At the age of 17, he joined the C.C.Camp and then 2 years later enlisted in military service.  Leslie served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army from Dec 25, 1941 until Jan 31, 1963.  He saw action in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.  Upon his retirement from the military, he lived for a while in Springfield, MO, where he met and married "Pete".  For 3 years they made their home in Lawrence, KS, before moving to the Hartville area in May of 1970.  From 1974 until 1985, he was employed as a molder for Reyco of Springfield, MO.  He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.  He enjoyed fishing, reading westerns and watching sports.  Leslie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Clinton Cemetery near Lawrence, KS.

Gimlin, Everett Lee:
Everett Lee Gimlin, son of John and Marth Trusty Gimlin, was born Dec 28, 1928, in Wright County, MO.  He departed this life Jul 15, 1990 in his home at Hartville, MO, at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 17 days.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lola May Deton.  Everett is survived by one brother Roy Gimlin, Wyoming; an aunt Bertha Smith, Mansfield, MO; two uncles Ralph Trusty, Duncan, OK, and Jack Trusty, St. Joseph, MO; also a host of other relatives and friends.  He grew up and lived all of his life in the Hartville area where he enjoyed driving his car and going fishing.  Everett will be fondly remembered and missed by all his family and friends.  Burial:  Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Gorseline, Arthur Alvey:
Arthur Alvey Gorseline, son of Charles and Flora Gorley Gorseline Carney, was born Nov 10, 1907 in Webb City, MO.  He departed this life Mar 21, 1993 in Statham, GA, at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 11 days.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers James and Grogan Gorseline; one step-brother John Carney; and one step-sister Esther Carney Young.  Albert is survived by his wife Centhie (King) Gorseline of the home in Statham, GA; one step-brother James "Champ" Carney of Hartville, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  Arthur was born in Webb City, MO, and as a child, moved with his family to the Wright County area.  He attended the No. 3 School there.  When he was 20 years old, he left Wright County and went to California where he met and married Centhie.  After living there for several years, they made their home in Statham, GA, where they lived for the last 23 years.  Arthur will be fondly remembered and missed by all those who knew and loved him.  Burial:  McBride Cemetery.

Grant, Julia Irene:
Julia Irene Grant, daughter of Thomas Francis and Verna Ionia Wynne Jones, was born Jan 16, 1910 in Wright County, near Hartville, MO.  She departed this life Mar 2, 1993 in the Mansfield Nursing Home in Mansfield, MO, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 16 days.  On Nov 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Edward Ralph Grant, who preceded her in death on Mar 9, 1983.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one infant brother Lloyd Jones.  Irene is survived by a sister Emogene Fuge of Hartville, MO; one niece Jean Ann Whitaker of Chaffee, MO; one great-nephew Steven Whitaker of Chaffee, MO; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born on her family's farm near Hartville and attended the Claxton rural school for a short time before transferring to the Hartville Schools where she graduated in 1927. She then attended and graduated from the Draughons Business College in Springfield.  In January of 1928, Irene moved with her family to Mangum, OK, where she worked as a typist in the county court house.  She returned to Missouri in 1931 and was employed by the Dade County Farm Office in Stockton by Mr. E. H. Hess.  After she and Edward were married, they made their home in Springfield where Irene was bookkeeper for the Kimbrough Tire Company.  In 1939 Edward was transferred to Ashland, KY, and Irene worked as chief accountant for the Sanitary Milk Company.  In 1963, they both retired and moved to Hartville.  Irene professed her faith in Christ and was a member of the Hartville First Baptist Church.  She also belonged to the Hartville Rebecca Lodge for 64 years and was a former member of the Hartville Eastern Star, Twentieth Century Club and Athenian Club.  she was a former member of The Amaranth in Ashland, KY.  She was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Ashland, for which she served as Worthy High Priestess, and was a current member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Springfield.  Throughout her life, she was a loving homemaker and was deeply devoted to her husband and her family.  In her younger years, she enjoyed doing beautiful needlepoint and knitting.  Irene will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Greathouse, Frankie Lee:
Frankie Lee Greathouse, the son of Carlos Roy and Sarah Elizabeth Crapo Greathouse, was born Feb 1, 1976 in Columbia, MO.  He departed this life Saturday, May 7, 1994, in an automobile accident near Doniphan, MO, at the age of 18 years, 3 months and 8 days.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mable Crapo on Jul 22, 1990.  Frankie is survived by his mother Elizabeth Greathouse of Hartville, MO; his father Carlos Greathouse of Ellsinore, MO; 2 brothers Brent Greathouse of Hartville, MO, and Billy Volner of Grovesprings, MO; his maternal grandfather Frank Crapo of Thayer, MO; his paternal grandparents Lee and Alberta Greathouse of Hunter, MO; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He lived most of his life in Wright County, MO, in the Hartville area where he attended the Hartville School.  He had professed his faith in Christ and was looking forward to being in a better place.  Throughout his life he had worked for the Independent Stave Co. in Seymour, MO, as well as cutting wood and hauling hay.  In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars, playing pool, fishing and listening to music.  Frankie will be fondly remembered as a loving son, brother, and grandson and will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.  Burial:  Little Vine Cemetery.

Gregory, Donald Calvin:
Donald Calvin Gregory, son of Everett Lee and Nettie Arlie Wood Gregory, was born Apr 24, 1937 in Wright County, MO.  He departed this life Friday, Aug 26, 1994, in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the age of 57 years, 4 months and 2 days.  On Oct 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Joan Buck and to this union 3 daughters and 2 sons were born.  He was preceded in death by his father.  Donald is survived by his wife Joan of the home; 3 daughters Lisa and Amy Gregory, both of the home, and Jill Bass of Hartville, MO; 2 sons Keith Gregory of Diamond, MO, and Kevin Gregory of Germany; his mother Nettie Gregory of Hartville, MO; 4 brothers Jesse Gregory of Cabool, MO, Gerald and Gene Gregory, both of Springfield, MO, and Jim Gregory of Shreveport, LA; 3 sisters Marie Garner, Arlene Rippee and Maxine Smith, all of Hartville, MO; 4 grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  He was born and raised in Wright County and graduated from Hartville High School.  For 11 years, he and Joan made their home in Idaho.  They then moved to Kansas City, MO, for 4 years before returning to Hartville and purchasing their farm.  For many years, he drove a gas truck for the Union Gas company of Hartville until retiring in 1986.  Donald was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the Shaddy Chapel Church.  His family was very important to him and he devoted himself to them.  He enjoyed raising coyote hounds and loved to hunt.  Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.  Burial:  Shaddy Cemetery.

Gregory, Nettie Arlie:
Nettie Arlie Gregory, daughter of Jesse Alonzo and Ella May Mansker Wood, was born Mar 22, 1899 on a farm east of Hartville, MO.  She departed this life Sunday, Mar 12, 1995, in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 20 days.  She was united in marriage to Everett Lee Gregory on May 8, 1920 and to this union 5 sons and 3 daughters were born.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Everett on Jan 30, 1974; a son Donald Gregory; a son-in-law Monroe Garner; a daughter-in-law Maxine Gregory; a granddaughter Barbara Garner; a great-grandson Ronald Garner; 3 sisters Opal Rowe, Gladys Wood and an infant sister; 3 half-sisters Myrtle and Cora Sullivant and an infant half-sister; 2 half-brothers Cecil Wood and an infant half-brother.  Nettie is survived by her 4 sons Jesse Gregory and his wife Aletta of Cabool, MO, Gene Gregory, Gerald Gregory and his wife Margaret, all of Springfield, MO, and Jim Gregory and his wife Kay of Shreveport, LA; her three daughters Marie Garner, Arlyene Rippee and her husband Jim, and Maxine Smith and her husband Don, all of Hartville, MO; a daughter-in-law Joan Gregory of Hartville, MO; 2 sisters Velma Ferriel of Lebanon, MO and Agnes Hensley of Hartville, MO; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born and raised in Wright County and lived there throughout most of her life.  After she and Everett were married, they continued to make Wright County their home except for 4 years that they lived in Iowa.  In 1928, they moved to Mountain Grove where they owned and operated the Gregory Store.  In 1944, they moved their business east of Hartville and continued to operate the store as well as their farm, and also raise their children.  In 1972, they left the farm and moved to Hartville.  Throughout the years, she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.  Nettie had professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age.  She was a long time member of the Green Valley Baptist Church.  Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed being around her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and working in her garden.  Nettie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.  Burial:  Coon Creek Cemetery.

Groce, Winona Vandorne:
Winona Vandorne Groce, daughter of John Richard and Beula Clee Lavender Womack, was born Sep 26, 1918, in Alvord, TX.  She departed this life Wednesday, Dec 20, 1995, in her home near Hartville, MO, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 26 days.  On Jun 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Max Otto Groce, and to this union 2 daughters and 2 sons were born.  She was preceded in death by her father; and her husband Max on Nov 4, 1987.  Winona is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law Maxona and Jack Lawler of Hartville, MO, and Joyce and David Lindsay of Austin, TX; 2 sons Charles Groce of Bovey, MN and Butch Groce and his wife Brenda of Lebanon, MO, 4 grandchildren Anthony Lindsay of Santa Barbara, CA, Richard Groce and his wife Emily, and Ronda Groce , all of Lebanon, MO, Rachel Stockstill and her husband Kraig of Burnet, TX; her mother Clee Womack of Hartville, MO; a sister Jean Thomas and her husband Tiny of Cameron, TX; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She was born in Alvord, TX, and at the age of 2 years, moved with her family to Petersburg, TX, where she graduated from high school.  While living in Texas, she met and eventually married Max and they made their home there for the first few years.  In 1951, she and Max moved to their family farm, near Hartville, MO, where they lovingly raised their family.  From 1964 until 1991, she was employed as a cook in the Hartville Schools and also was a devoted wife and homemaker.  She continued to make her home on the family farm after Max passed away.  Winona was a member of the Church of Christ and had attended services at the Shaddy Chapel for many years.  She was a member of the Athenian Club of Hartville, and had been active in the Parent Teacher's Association and the Extension Club when her children were young.  She was very community minded and was always helping those in need.  She enjoyed doing embroidery work and sewing, and was known for her special new baby blankets.  She liked playing basketball when she was young, and continued to enjoy watching games when ever she could.  She was a wonderful cook and was always preparing food for her family and other members of the community.  Her family was extremely special to her, and she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren.  Winona was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the memories she has provided her family will live on forever.  Burial:  Steele Memorial Cemetery.

Grogan, Tyler Daniel:
Tyler Daniel Grogan, son of David Daniel, Sr. and Debbie Lynn Moore Grogan, was born May 18, 1997, in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO.  He also departed this life on May 18, 1997.  Tyler is survived by his parents David and Debbie Grogan of Willow Springs, MO; his maternal grandparents Billy Joe and Mary Lou Moore of Hartville, MO; his paternal grandparents William and Ioline Grogan of Willow Springs, MO; his maternal great-grandmother Pearlie May Parsons of Mtn. View, MO; 5 half-brothers Nathen, Jason and Brian Grogan of the State of Oklahoma, Benny Grogan of West Plains, MO, and David Grogan, Jr., of the home; two half-sisters Brittany Grogan of West Plains, MO, and Shonna (Grogan) Cox of the State of Oklahoma; 5 aunts Judy Christoper of West Plains, MO, Doris Moore and Donna Johnson, both of Hartville, MO, Deloris Norman of Mtn. Grove, MO, Ilene Grogan of Willow Springs, MO; 3 uncles John N. Grogan of Willow Springs, MO, Dickie and Doug Moore of Hartville, MO, as well as a host of other relatives and friends, though he never met them.  Even though we (mom and dad) only got to spend a few minutes with him, he will always be in spirit, in our hearts.  Tyler, the greatest and most precious little guy we've ever seen and held.  I know in my heart, he's gone to a much better place.  But I'd rather, more than anything in this world, have him home with us.  He will never be forgotten, but cherished by many loved ones and friends.  Burial:  Near Home Cemetery, Near Home MO.
