William Ester BELL is my gg grandfather with 1st wife Louisa and 1st son John Andrew BELL; but who is Susannah? Would like contact with other BELL researchers in Calhoun Co areas. HITT, Reuben Martin b 24 May 1781 Fauquier Co. VA, d 1855 Webster Co MS, and Martha HAMILTON b 23 Jan 1810 SC? d ca 1834 Laurens Co SC, are said to be the parents of my ancestor Lazarus HITT. My data shows this to be impossible, as Lazarus HITT was b 1792 Laurens Co SC and d 20 Oct 1859 Calhoun Co MS. I understand there is a monument to Reuben Martin HITT at Embry Cemetery in Bellefontaine. Could someone tell me if his data is correct and if his children are listed on the monument? Thanks!

MUSGROVE - Seeking burial place of John Wesley MUSGROVE who resided in Water Valley, Yalobusha Co as well as Banner and Serepta Calhoun Co in 1870s and 1880s. I believe he died 10 Apr 1888/89. He m Mary Ann CASEY MUSGROVE, a Native American. A letter written by his dau, Martha MUSGROVE SHARP indicates he was buried in "the bottoms." Any idea where I can find "the bottoms?" In addition to the above mentioned dau, the other children were: William "Bill" MUSGROVE; Rufus L. MUSGROVE; Mary Adeline Musgrove HARRIS; Lula Musgrove CONNELY; Alford MUSGROVE; Jack MUSGROVE; and Henry MUSGROVE. As far as I know, the father and all of the children born in Marion Co., AL.

ROANE - Seeking parents of my gg-gf, James P. ROANE b ca 1855 MS, m Fannie GALE d 1895 Banner, Calhoun Co. His family may have been in Yalobusha prior to Calhoun Co becoming a county. There are no census records showing his parents' names. However, in 1870 census for Calhoun Co, two teenagers John T. ROANE and Jenny ROANE are living with non-family members, as was James P. ROANE. Census indicates these people stated that their parents were from AL. *ANY* info about ROANES in Yalobusha/ Calhoun other than Andrew ROANE greatly appreciated! (Not directly related to Grenada Roanes)

Within a few years they moved to TX where my mother, Mary Edith SHIRLEY, was born (one of ten children) in 1895. My g-gf, father of John SHIRLEY, was Harrison SHIRLEY b 1812 Abbeville Co SC. Harrison is said to have lived in Oktibbeha, Calhoun and Lafayette Counties, MS, in addition to Pontotoc Co, where he died ca 1880. My g-gm (married to Harrison SHIRLEY) was Cynthia BENNETT (birthdate/birthplace unknown). My g-gf on McCARTER side was Alex McCARTER, b 1831 AL and my g-gm was Josephine ?, b 1839 AL. Any info you may have will be much appreciated.

Info found during Civil War reflects the difference in names. My father was Carlyle William Anderson STEWART; gf - Terry Jerry STEWART; g-gf - Anderson STEWART; gg-gf - William STEWART Sr. m1 Nancy BIRT/BURT, b 1780-1790, after she passed away, he m2 Mrs. Sarah COCKERHAM THOMAS (widow of Ezekiel THOMAS). TAYLOR - Seeking parents of my gg-gm, Martha Susan TAYLOR, born 4 Jun 1851. Her death certificate lists place of birth as Calhoun Co MS, but in 1851 there was no Calhoun Co. Her father's name is unknown and I believe her mother's name was Susan (as per her granddaughter). I have searched 1860 census for TAYLOR's in all counties surrounding Calhoun Co and I cannot find a family with a wife named Susan and a 9 year old dau named Martha Susan. My aunt (above named granddaughter) gave me the names of two sisters: Becky (Rebecca) m Frank CRAYTON 3 Mar 1869 Warren Co MS; and Sarah m William B. CROSSLIN ca 1860 Robertson Co TN. Martha Susan m David W. MITCHELL 9 Mar 1869 Lauderdale Co TN. I did find on 1850 census, a William TAYLOR and family in Monroe Co MS with a dau Rebecca and a dau Sarah, but the wife's name is Sarah also. I cannot find anything on Martha Susan before her marriage in 1869. I really need some ideas on where to look next. If anyone has any ideas, please contact me at Thanks for any help!
