Seeking info on the families of four brothers: William, Bryant, Joshua and Harris WATSON. They moved to Choctaw Co in 1837. Bryant is listed on the 1860 Choctaw Co, MS census, p. 466; died Jun 19, 1899 in Webster Co, MS. That is all the info that I have on the brothers. Trying to see if these four brothers are connected to my Levin WATSON, b. abt. 1873 or 1878. His father was from NC, but I can't find his name. Thanks for the help!

WAX, STARNES, BURCH, STENNIS, DAVIS
Jenny Lee Wax
Thu, Oct 24, 1996
I'm hoping to find some interesting info about these families: I was born in Aberdeen, MS in 1948, and Nina, my sister was born in 1951. My father, John Andrew WAX, was born in Maben, MS in 1910 and Mama (Mary Lee STARNES) was born in Mathiston, MS in 1915 or 1916. Her Mama was Bessie BURCH (from the Indianola area) and she's a bit of a mystery. Mother's father was "Tuck" STARNES who owned a lumber mill in West Point. Daddy's father owned a merchantile store in Maben. Daddy's mother was Lela DAVIS, I think. She had a sister, Nina STENNIS. Oh, there is a WAX in Amory. Daddy had a brother, H. O. WAX, who lived in Starkville. My mother had a sister, Jennie, and brother, Bill. There are some mysteries surrounding some oil leases and land in Jones County we are still trying to solve. There is also a lady that I met only once, Wyatt (?) STARNES, Mama's cousin. She may still be living; She came to see me in 1982 in Jackson.

Seeking info on Robert WHITE, age 30, on the 1860 census record. With him is Jane, age 28, William H. C., 13, Lucretia, 6, Nancy A., 4, Caroline, 3 and John.  My great-grandfather, John Calhoun WHITE, was b. April 2, 1858. According to certain records, he came from Grenada (city/county ?) to Hazlehurst, Copiah Co, and is documented from 1880 until his death in 1929. Grenada Co. was formed in 1870 from Yalabousha, Carroll, Choctaw, and Tallahatchie.  The above family of Robert WHITE is the only one found on the 1860 census, of any of these four counties, with a son named John.

Also passed down was info that their mother was Martha C. BLAKELY and Stephen did marry a Martha. Does anyone recognize this WOODS family??? Does anyone know the maiden name of this Martha that Stephen married??? Stephen was b. ca 1832 in AL,  is the first child listed on the 1850 Choctaw Co. census in the household. I assume his mother, Elizabeth WOODS, b. ca 1815, GA, and the rest of the children were b. in MS. The father is not there, so I am assuming he d. bef. the 1850 census was taken. Elizabeth WOODS m. a James B. WOOD, ca1851, who is next door to them with his parents on the 1850 Choctaw Co. census. His parents are Furnifold and Anna WOOD.
