It is bordered by Mobile County, AL to the east, and the Mississippi counties of Perry and Stone to the west, Greene County to the north, and Jackson County to the south. George County was formed in 1910 from Jackson and Green Counties. State Supreme Court Justice in Mississippi, and U.S. Senator from Mississippi. Known among his constituents as "the Great Commoner." Three rivers flow through the southwest corner of George County, the Pascagoula, Red, and Black rivers. The County Seat is Lucedale.
