4-Mile Cemetery

|
If you have
access to any cemetery listings or tombstone photographs from Humphreys
County, and you are willing to share them with your fellow researchers,
please let me know. I would like to have listings and photos for
all of the cemeteries in the county.
Suggested corrections
and/or additions will be noted in RED.
The original data
will not be removed. Do you know of others
buried here?
Let me know
and I will post their names and data.
This cemetery
was recorded by Stanley & Cindy

by Sharon

Directions --
4-Mile Cemetery is north of Belzoni, MS on Hwy 7
very close to
the Leflore County line but is in Humphreys Co at the present time.
It is located
in front of an old "Dog Trot" house at the intersection of Inverness Road
and the 4-Mile Road (located on the opposite side of Inverness Road from
the old 4-Mile Store -
Coca Cola sign
on from of store).
There
is no way to know who all was buried in this location. A visit on
September 24, 2002, revealed some markers in their original location while
others appeared to be scattered over the entire area and on both sides
of 4-Mile Road. Some bases were all that was left of markers while
marker tops seems as if they had been thrown where they lay at the present.
There appears to be no way to know if those markers are any where near
the graves. The entries in green are based upon the survey done on
September 24, 2002.
A
local fisherman/resident stated that more markers were in the water.
When the water goes down, they can be seen under the water.
