I am seeking information on my ggrandmother, Lucinda Nicholas
who was
born in Alabama in 1820 and died in Handsboro, Mississippi on
Dec. 26,
1902.
She was the daughter of JACOB NICHOLAS (Nie-col-us), son of JOHN
COOPER,
who was a Choctaw Indian Chief who signed the Great Indian Dance
Treaty.
She married my ggrandfather, Charles Woodbury Creel in 1837. OF
the
Thomas and Elizabeth Dearman Creel family line, MS.
Charles
Woodbury
Creel's brother, Wesley Creel, married Jerusha Nicholas, Lucinda
Nicholas' sister.
Their father was Jacob Nicholas who was
born in
Tennessee.
I am quoting from an out-of-print BOOK "Anywhere
I Wander I
Find Facts and Legends about the Creel Families". (written by
J.OWENS
1975) She was the daughter of JACOB NICHOLAS, son of JOHN
COOPER, a
Choctaw Indian Chief who signed the Great Indian Dance Treaty,
supposedly
at Shubuta, MS. LUCINDA NICHOLAS was a midwife."
Thanks.
