Article dated March 9, 1906. Death of Mrs. M. S. Angle. Friday afternoon, the sad announcement was made that Mrs, M. A. Angle had died unexpectedly at her home on Church Street after an illness of only a few days. Her illness had not been of a serious nature, until Thursday afternoon, when pneumonia developed and proved fatal in a very short time. During the week preceding her death, but there was no symptoms of the fatal malady, until it's appearance Thursday afternoon. From this time she grew rapidly worse until death came. Members of the family were Hasty summoned and her Daughter Mrs. Wilks arrived in time to see her mother before the end came. The death of Mrs.
Angle removes one of the oldest citizens of Lee County. Coming here
about thirty-five years ago she, with her husband and family settled near
Bryce's Cross Roads, afterwards moving to Baldwyn and then to Tupelo.
Mrs. Angle was born in Fayette Court House, Alabama and was married to
Thomas Angle on September 16th, 1858, she was the mother of eight children,
only two survive, Mrs. Wilks and Joseph Angle of Tupelo. In her
early childhood she joined the Baptist Church, remaining a faithful and
consistent member to the time of her death. In a relations of life,
she was true and had the highest conceptions of her duty, as a Christian
wife, mother, and friend. Kind, Affectionate, generious, and considerate
of others, she exerted an influence for good that will live as a monument
to her memory in coming |
