VERONA.

Our high school furnished about a dozen applicants for certificates to teach, at the recent examination by county Superintendent Francis.

The epidemic of measles that has been raging in our vicinity seems to have greatly abated.

We regret to state that Mrs. M. L. Maer accidentally fell, one day last week and fractured her right arm, near the wrist. We are glad to report that she is doing well.

Our gardeners are as busy as they can be, but everything is very backward and the gardens do not make much show.

Little Dale and Hoyt Richmond spent Saturday and Sunday with their grand mother, Mrs. Louise Raymond.

Frank L. Kincannon, Jr. and his wife are visiting his mother, Mrs. H. A. Kincannon.

Dr. Charles Spencer is at home now after passing a year at the Medical College at Nashville, Tenn., where he made the distinguished record of covering two years' course in one year. Dr. Spencer will have to go through a two years' term yet when he will return with a diploma as M. D. He is a very talented young man and bids fair to distinguish himself in his profession.
