Fellow members will offer tips to beginners on getting started in family research.  Additionally,  programs at monthly meetings will feature topics geared to help beginning genealogists learn the fundamentals and to inspire more advanced genealogists to further their research.
Computer Genealogy
Several members already have personal computers and genealogy software.  A poll taken at the first meeting of the group showed that about half were using computers already for their research.  Almost everyone uses Family Tree Maker for Windows.  A few use PAF, too.
Family Data Publishing
We hope to have every members' data on computer disk and printed by the year's end.  Members who have computers will help those who don't have access or don't wish to learn to use one.  After the data is on disk, it can easily be updated and printed in many variations.
Internet Access
The library will soon be on the Internet!  The Mississippi Library Commission is getting local libraries statewide online as fast as they can manage it.  We are scheduled to have full access by summer's end.  This will give members a chance to search for ancestors on the Web.
