Sandtown United Methodist Church
Philadelphia, MS

Sandtown Church, known earlier as Pinegrove, is located eight miles east of Philadelphia, MS and is one of the oldest churches in the county. About 1834, a few families from AL settled around where the church is located now. The first church was South of the Cemetery, the second was built around 1857, and the third was built during 1890-91 west of the present church. In 1916 the fourth church was built and later torn down and the fifth church was built. Sandtown is the largest rural congregation in the conference. The picture shows the church, as it is now, 2003
