BETTY ZACKAREVICZ

BOONEVILLE - Betty E. Zackarevicz, 71, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of the First Baptist Church of Booneville. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the American Poets Society. She had modeled for the John Casablanca Modeling Agency and Grant & Company of Tupelo. She was an avid reader, a special caregiver who touched many people, and a patriotic and devoted military wife.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lynn Jones officiating.

Survivors include four daughters, Joan Smith, and Mary Steed and husband, Merlin, all of Lyons, Ga., and Janet Wilson, and Tammy Jackson and husband, Andy, all of Booneville; two sons, Danny Cooper of Falls Church, Va., and Jeremiah Zackarevicz and wife, Laurie, of Booneville; two brothers, Gene Rye of Baltimore, Md., and Glen Cunningham of Zion, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Zackarevicz; her parents, Edgar Rye, and Ora and Lex Cunningham; and a special uncle, Travis Pate.

Visitation will continue until service time today.

 

JAMES ZACKAREVICZ

James Zackarevicz, 63, of Booneville, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Memphis after an extended illness.

Services were Monday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lynn Jones officiating.

Mr. Zackarevicz was a retired Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. His awards included a Silver Star, five Good Conduct Medals, two Vietnam Service Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and two Expert Rifleman Badges. He was one of 28 men recognized for transporting Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Zackarevicz; four daughters, Tammy Zackarevicz Jackson and husband Andy, Janet Zackarevicz Wilson and Joan Smith, all of Booneville and Delores Steed and hus­band Merlin of Georgia; one son, Dan Cooper and wife Carol of Falls Church, Va.; three sisters, Ida Hamel and Bernice Nickle, both of North Brookfield, Mass., and Helen Wolvern of West Brookfield, Mass.; 17 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

 

ELLEN W. ZEH

IUKA - Ellen W. Zeh, 94, formerly of Mayfield, Kentucky, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a member of the Gospel Assembly in Iuka. She was formerly employed at Merit Clothing Co. and Andover Clothing Co., both in Mayfield, Ky.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Gospel Assembly in Iuka with the Rev. Zolon Zeh officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mayfield, Ky. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one son, Rev. Zolon Zeh of Iuka; two daughters, LaDonna Murphy of Paducah, Ky., and Oleta Farrow of El Dorado, Ill.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zolon I. Zeh; and a daughter, Joyce Dean Zeh.

Pallbearers will be Roy Provins, Larry Gray, Tom Provins, Donald Boyles, Mark Baxter and Clark Godwin.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. today at the Gospel Assembly in Iuka.

Memorials may be made to the Gospel Assembly Church of the donor's choice.
