Zack Garrett Prince died last Saturday at the home of his daughter
Mr. & Mrs. Jim F. Jones near Stutts Chapel. He had been in failing
health for several months.
Mr. Prince would have reached the age of 98 years in July and was
born and reared in Alcorn County for a long time then came to Prentiss
County. His wife passed away a few months ago and they had lived together
longer than any couple in the county.
As a young man he entered the Confederate Army and was the last
remaining Confederate Soldier on the Confederate Pension list in the County.
Mr. Jesse Cheeves was next to him and passed away last year. He was a good
soldier and did the best he could for his family, his friends and his country.
He is survived by many relatives who have the deepest Sympathy of
many friends in their hour of bereavement. He was the head of a five generation
family.
Funeral services were held at Gaston and the body was laid tenderly
to rest in the Gaston Cemetery.
McMillan and Son were in charge of the arrangements.
