Myrtle Louise "Mimi" Everitt — Early morning on the 12th of March, her Lord and Savior called our Mimi to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. There she will join her beloved husband, Joseph R. Everitt; her two sons, Bobby and Johnny; and her grandson, Michael David Everitt. Mimi was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting her and everyone was touched by her ever-present smile and her commitment to God and her family. She was a grandmother to so many children that she met through her church and she devoted the last 25 years of her life to helping her 15 grandchildren raise their children with the same faith and love of God that had made her such a wonderful Christian for over 98 years.
Mimi was born on October 11, 1911 in Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Joe Everitt. During WWII she served her country by working in an ammunition factory while husband Joe worked as a Fire Chief at the fire department at a military base near San Antonio. After the war she and Joe owned a fishing camp and boat basin in Rockport, Texas. Many fond memories were created for her grandkids during the years that they lived in Rockport because most of their summers were spent helping 'Mimi and Papa' at the fish camp. She and Joe spent their retirement years at Lake-of-the Pines in East Texas and enjoyed woodworking.
After our beloved "Papa" passed away in 1985, she lived in Picayune, where she passed the time by doing what she did best, helping raise great-grandkids. She moved back to Texas in 1997, but remained spiritually strong and independent. She joined First Baptist Church of Baytown where she was an inspiration to both young and old. As her body started to fail her during her twilight years, her smile was always a source of joy for those who were fortunate enough to encounter it.
Mimi is survived by: her daughter, Juanita 'Skeeter' Whittington of Baytown, Texas; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren that are scattered from the hills of Idaho to the plains of the mid-west to the coast of Texas. All of them have one very strong bond, they all loved their Mimi.
