Home of the Tishomingo County Archives

The John Marshall Stone Research Library  serves as an archival depository for the Tishomingo County Archives & History Museum.

The purpose is to collect, preserve, index, and make records of the history of Tishomingo County, Mississippi, available to researchers.

The first priority of the collection is directly related to Tishomingo County—its administration, governing board, citizens, businesses, etc.  The histories of the surrounding counties are the second priority of the collection.  Coverage is as thorough as possible, but not comprehensive due to lack of funds.  The third priority of the collection is historical material pertaining to surrounding states.  The focus of the remainder of the collection is various genealogical materials on other locations in the United States.  The archives librarian is responsible for determining the suitability of materials not covered by these guidelines and the addition of such to the collection.

The John Marshall Stone Research Library’s secondary objective is to provide materials and services in support of historical and genealogical research to patrons visiting the Tishomingo County Archives & History Museum (TCAHM).  The research library seeks to provide a strong in-house collection of historical and genealogical information that meets the broad information needs of its patrons.
