Tishomingo County Historical and Genealogical Society

The historic Tishomingo County courthouse is a public facility operated by the Tishomingo County Historical & Genealogical Society, a non-profit, volunteer-based organization.

Family-oriented events such as meetings, weddings, and reunions are welcomed at the facility. However, certain guidelines and restrictions will apply. Most importantly, the courthouse will not be closed to accommodate any of these events.

For events conducted during normal business hours, the following rules will apply:

  • No food will be allowed in the facility during normal business hours.
  • All meetings during business hours must be limited to the courtroom.
  • Small groups may meet downstairs to accommodate handicapped needs after hours, if a courthouse staff or volunteer is present.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • No loud noise or foul language will be tolerated.

For events conducted during non-business hours, the following rules will apply:
  • For weddings, pre-payment of $100 is required; $50 is refunded if guest cleans the facility after its use. This fee will be charged to cover the cost of electricity, manpower, and housekeeping, if applicable. Said fee must be received two weeks in advance of the event.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times throughout the Museum.
  • An agreement form must be signed by registrant.
  • A Museum staff member or volunteer must be present.
