STEARNS, LOU KATHERINE HOLMES
A retired loan officer with American Bank and Trust and a resident of Baton
Rouge, she died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Flannery Oaks Guest House. She was
89, born Oct. 11, 1911, in Tylertown, Miss., the daughter of the late James
Marshall Holmes and Leota Thomas Holmes. She was a member of First Baptist
Church in Baton Rouge and Daughters of the American Revolution and was a
former president of Credit Women's Breakfast Club. She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Ralph W. Stearns; three brothers, William,
Jewell and Milton Holmes; and a sister, Julia Mae Willoughby. She is survived
by two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie Stearns Levert, Baton Rouge, and
Martha Stearns Jordan and Jerre Jordan, Baton Rouge and Natchez, Miss.; a
sister, Katie Nell Ogletree, McComb, Miss.; five grandchildren, Kay Stanzel,
Beth Champagne, Chuck Levert, Jeff Jordan and Blair DeFrank; and eight
great-grandchildren. Visitation at Catchings Funeral Home, McComb, from 1
p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services in Hollywood Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, with Dr. David Millican officiating. Pallbearers will be Tom
Willoughby, Jerre Jordan, Jeff Jordan and Chris Stanzel.
