M.R. BROOKS

M. R. Brooks was born abt. 1834 in Georgia, he married Lucy ? maiden name unknown abt. 1854. They had 9 children. M. R. Brooks first showed up on the 1860 Census of Floyd Co., Georgia. Their children on the census were; Charles Peter, Joseph R., Luda, Jesse William, Miller D., and James M. Brooks. M. R. & Lucy were on the 1870 Census of Lowndes Co., Miss. living near West Point, Miss.! M. R. may have died before 1880, because Lucy was listed as a widow on the 1880 Census, living in Webster Co., Miss. near Walthall. Charles Peter Brooks was married to Nancy Viola Parker, and they had three known children. Joseph R. Brooks married Mattie Daphie Williams, Jesse William married Sarah Joyce Thompson, and they had three children; Thomas, William, and Annie Brooks. Mary Elizabeth Brooks was the daughter of M. R. & Lucy, she was born Sept. 25, 1861, and married Thomas Childs. They had 7 children. Mason Kelly Brooks married Dilda Blankenship, Mason Kelly was also a son to M. R. & Lucy Brooks. John Wesley Brooks was born Mar. 4, 1872, he married Nettie Octavia “Clemmons” Blansett! John Wesley & Nettie were my wife’s Great Grandparent’s. John Wesley married a second time to Louisa Eliza Martin, and they had 8 children. John Wesley and Nettie had 4 children, 2 son’s, and 2 daughter’s! One of their son’s was Samuel O’Neal Brooks, he was born Oct. 13, 1898, and married Salina Mae Terry. They lived near Montpelier when they first married. Samuel O’Neal and Mae “Mother” Brooks had 12 children! Salina Mae “Terry” Brooks was called Mother by everyone who knew her. She was like everybody’s mother. Samuel O’Neal and Salina Mae {Mother} “Terry” Brooks was my wife’s grandparent’s. Lucy Brooks probably lived around Walthall, Mantee, and Montevista, Miss. before she died. Place of burial for M. R. & Lucy are unknown at this time. Would like very much to know of their burial.  From 1880 – 1900 several of the Brooks children lived in Webster Co., Miss., and later in Clay & Chickasaw Counties, in Miss.! I would like very much to share the Brooks family with anyone who may be related.
