Winston County Driving Tour1. The Chamber of Commerce began in 1851 by Samuel Washington. The building was originally used as the Masonic Hall. Wings were added in the late 1800's when the hall was used for the Louisville Normal School. 2. Taylor's Water Wheel is a picturesque landmark for motorist entering Louisville on Hwy 14W. 3. Lake Tiak-O-Khata - features sandy beaches, spiral water slide, fishing, hiking, great food and comfortable rooms to relax in after a fun filled day. 4. The Nanih Waiya Mound site, occupied approximately from the time of Christ until white contact, is rich in history and tradition. 5. Sciples Mills - Oldest continuously operated water mill in the USA that still grinds corn for the public six days per week. Rt. 4, Box 119 Dekalb, MS. 6. Hammil Spring site renovated in 1999. This spring pours approximately 500 gallons of pure refreshing spring water every hour. 7. Noxubee Refuge - Approximately 42,500 acres of the Refuge is comprised of bottomland and upland woodlands. These forest lands are occupied by a variety of game species including quail, deer, and turkey. 8. Beautiful Choctaw Lake State Park in Choctaw County. Camp sites and picnic area available. 9. Legion State Park - Serene, peaceful secluded - opened on July 18, 1937. The park has a large banquet room, five cabins, on 440 acres of land as unspoiled today as when the Choctaw Indian Nation inhabited the area. 10. Ivy Park is the home of Louisville Coliseum, one of the state's premier venues for horse shows. Baseball and softball fields and tennis courts are also located at the park. Picnic areas, walking track and play ground equipment are located on the premises. 11. Big Red Fire Museum houses one of the finest collections of antique fire engines in the country. Opened by appointment only (662) 773 - 3421. 12. Historical District - Park Street and Columbus Avenue are lined with beautiful antebellum homes built as early as the mid 1800's. 13. The Monument was unveiled on July 4, 1921. It pays tribute to Veterans of the Confederacy, Spanish-American soldiers and World War I Veterans. 14.
