I am so proud that I have reached this far back into history and found out this much about my family. When I first started I really didn't know very much about any of my Great grandparents, maybe only their names. I have found out some info about the Hancock side of Druea Naomi Scarborough's father, Josiah Flowers Hancock. I thought this info below about father's resentment to marriage between John Hancock and Tabitha Ballew was unusual to be listed on record. Plus I have a quick outline to my Grandmother's Druea Naomi (Scarborough) Williams’s Ballew and Cain Ancestors
John L. Hancock married Tabitha Balew in 1806 in Wayne County, KY. They
took their family and moved through Tennessee and into Mississippi. John
L. appears in 1830 census in Clairborne County, Ms. In 1840 he is in Copiah
County, Ms with 9 boys and one girl. In 1850 Yazoo County census John L
Hancock Jr, Tarleton, and Leonard appear. All are sons of John L. Hancock,
Tabitha (Balew) Hancock is living with Leonard and the only girl child,
Artimissa is with them. Not sure what happened to John L. Hancock Sr. but
it appears that he is dead.
