Medley Cemetery

also known as the Madelay Cemetery

T11N; R1E; S29

Going east on Hwy 16, (about 12 miles) turn right on Hicks Road. Go 1.6 miles and

 turn right at the curve. Cemetery is back off the road.

The Vaughan family owned this land and the cemetery was known as the Vaughan Cemetery, then the Hicks family came into possession of the land, and it was called the Hicks Cemetery. Later. apparently the Hicks family has moved on or died out and now it is called Medley Cemetery.

Cindy Vaughan Foose, the great great granddaughter of Major Henry Vaughan who was the original owner of the property named his home Madelay and she believes the name on the cemetery to be the same.  It was located on the property of his home whch burned.  When she visited the cemetery with her grandfather it was referred to as the Vaughan Cemetery bus spoke often of his grandfather's home, Madelay.
