Obit for Charlie E. Crippen in Shannon/McMaster/Crippen cemetery Yazoo

C.E. Crippen in Untimely Death. Lake George Resident Commits Suicide Monday Morning.  Charles E. Crippen, 72 years of age, shot himself at his home on Lake George near Callihan's Ferry Monday morning about 6 O'clock, using a Winchester rifle.  His funeral with arrangements in charge of the Gregory Funeral Home, was conducted at Holly Bluff.

Mr. Crippen was one of the pioneer residents of this section of Yazoo County.  He owned his own farm, and was well known to many in the county.  He was especially well known to many who fished at Lake George, for he rented boats and also was a commercial fisherman himself.

Mr. Crippen had been despondent for many months, due to financial worries, and those who knew him personally noted that his mental condition was not good.  He had no immediate family, and yet many will be sorry to learn of his passing.

This obit from the Yazoo Sentinel in Yazoo City,MS. Dated Oct. 21,1909

Obit for Sadie May Shannon in Shannon/McMaster/Crippen Cemetery

Death of a Little Girl. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Shannon was born Sept. 15, 1905, and died Sept. 7, 1909, aged 4 years and 22 days.  She was the grand-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McMaster, of Campbellsville, Miss.  She was buried near the home of her parents on Sept. 8, 1909.  The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. H. Foreman, of Silver City, Miss.  Her uncle, Mr. W. C. McMaster , who by affliction is not able to walk as other men, being confined at home  only as he was carried about by others, he made this little girl his only pet from the day of her birth until her death. He, next to her parents, suffered a great loss in the death of little Sadie May.  A few brief days she spent on earth to gladden the hearts of loved ones and then went home to heaven like those who Christ said, "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."  No sad regrets of the past, nor dark foreboding of the future marked her pearceful passing from earth to glory.  God called her into the sweet beyond and in calling her, perhaps, purposed to draw father and mother homeward to help them to trust in and own Christ as a personal Savior, who is able to give the much-needed help and grace for the most trying ordeals of life, and we trust her having lived in the home and her death, will continue to be a blessing to the entire family.   She was as a flower plucked from earth to be transplanted in Heaven, where she awaits the coming of mamma, papa, and all the relatives.  Yes, bereaved ones, it is hard to part with Sadie May, but, ah, what great consolation it is to know that she is safe and sweetly resting. May the bereaved ones have and ever realize the sustaining grace of God and live to meet the little one in Heaven.
No chilling winds of poisonous breath can reach that healthful shore, Sickness and sorrow, pain and death, are felt and feared no more.  J. H. Foreman, P.C.
