| Mechanicsburg Class of 1914
-- This is a picture of the 1914 Mechanicsburg,Ms School
class.
It has a picture of Clarence S. Williams (son of George Washington
Williams
and Druea Naomi (Scarborough) Williams, who is the daughter of Tabitha
Jane
(Hancock) Scarborough and Edward Howie Scarborough) . This is the
same
Mrs. Tabitha Jane Scarborough whose obituary is posted on
the Brief Biographies of Yazoo County
Families. Just about everyone in this Picture grew up
and
intermarriedand wound up kin to each other by marriage and their
kids.
There are still a lot of kids from these unions that still live around
Yazoo
County,Ms.
This photo was contributed by Harvey Williams who found
it on
Marie Scogin's
homepage. Marie has given us permission to use it but wants
credit
given to
her
cousin, Gerald Jones, who originally gave it to her at a family reunion in
1998.

Cheatham
School
class of 1917 - 1918 -- The First attached photo is of
Cheatham
School. Date is 1917-1918 and Cheatham was the proverbial one
room
school house and was located at the junction of Fletcher's Chapel road
and
Neely road.
The small pitiful looking child in the very front,wearing white coat, is my maternal grand uncle Joseph Powell Manor, second student directly behind him is my maternal Grandmother Mary Louise Manor (Mobley). Back row, from the right, second student is Horace Johnson; fourth student is Robert Isaac Martin. Front row, student to the right of my uncle Powell is Francis Edward Martin. Front row, from the left, third student wearing huge striped scarf is Cornelia Johnson (Hilton). Front row, from left, directly behind student number 5 is Lilly LaPearl Kirk (Thomas). Front row, from left, fourth student is believed to be Decken Neely, Blond student behind is believed to be Thelma Neely. -- This photo is also of Cheatham School. Don't have clue
as
to date but appears later that first photo. Only certain of one student
and
he is on back row, first student, is Robert Isaac Martin. Believe
that
two of the Neely girls and Lilly Kirk in first photo are also in this
