My grandmother, Kathryn M. Bain Spencer, wrote in her history that
her parents, Mary Baumgartner and Lee Bain, were born in Brighton, Iowa.
They came to Billings, MT by emigrant train and from Billings went to Bozeman
by stage coach. Her father's uncle, Pike Nelson who lived in Bozeman
gave them a team of horses and a wagon with which they went to Stanford,
MT. Lee Bain's mother was Anna Jane Nelson who I believe is a sister
to the John W. Nelson family of Bozeman. Pike Nelson was born in
1864 in Bozeman and
Frank "Doc" was born in 1867. Is there any information on
the Nelson family that I could obtain to establish this relationship?

I am looking for information on my great-great-grandfather, George Washington Krattcer (also spelled Kratzer). His parents were Benjamin and Nancy Freeman Krattcer in Perry Co., Ohio. His son Samuel Benjamin was the father of my grandfather, James Andrew Krattcer. G. W. Krattcer was a member of the Montana Society of Pioneers. James Andrew's wife was Emily Marion Hargrove Krattcer. Her father was Rutledge Hargrove. I have been led to believe that Rutledge was employed at the old Diamond D ranch. Any information on any of the aforementioned people would be helpful.

My great grandfather, Joseph Labrie and his wife Helene Bourque settled in Bozeman sometime after their marriage in Chicago in 1881. My grandmother, Estelle Labrie was born in Bozeman on 4/20/1887. I am not sure how long they lived there, but there is also mention of a roller skating rink that he ran in Bozeman. I am looking for information on the family, and maybe some historical writings that may have some information. They moved to Harlowton sometime in the 1890's.

I am searching for information about William
Bradford Murray b: 9/8/1869 (70) and his wife, Alice (Allie) McCandless
Murray b: ? I have a poor copy of a census record from June 1900. It lists
Wm. Bradford Murray in Gallatin Co., Hilldales (?) Precinct. However, there
are so many parts that did not copy well that I need. I cannot read any
of the age information for either person (I have Wm.'s from other sources).
I am especially interested in their listed places of origin. Wm. appears
to been born in Missouri and lists his parents as also being from Missouri
(which would be correct). However, Alice lists a much shorter or abreviated
birth state (perhaps Iowa) for herself. The census taker shows he father
as coming from Kentucky (?) and her mother from Iowa (?). Also listed on
this census page are children: Essie, William (?), and ___. Perhaps the
last one is my grandfather, Henry, but I am unsure. I would appreciate
information on any of these people.

Looking for the family of THOMAS H. SEARS for
information about my grandfathers brother, GEORGE DAVENPORT. George married
Edith Sears of Bozeman. They had no children but considered Tom their family.
Tom, his wife Beverly or their children, Debra Ann or Catherine Suzanne,
may be able to answers some questions on Mason papers that were given to
George when he went west. These papers if they still exist may help us
discover the origins of our immigrant before 1770. Our last contact with
the Sears family was in 1965 when the they were living at 26 E. Main in
Bozeman. The Mason Lodge in Bozeman doesn't have any information on the
papers. Any help appreciated.

I am looking for any info about Joseph Cornelius
Francis born April 16, 1854 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He lived in Montana
for a time and it is my understanding that he helped bury the dead after
Custers Last Stand. Apparently he changed his name over the years. He was
born Joseph Cornelius Trujillo and when in Montana was named Joseph Cornelius
Hill. When he came to Oregon and married my grandmother he said his name
was Joseph Cornelius Francis. I have found a marriage license in Bozeman,
Montana of his marriage to an Indian girl on September 19, 1882. His surname
was Hill at this time and the license said he was marrying a Miss Carets?
(Ole) a Crow. The witnesses to that marriage were I. Allen and Barney Bravo.
The minister was T.D. Lewis. Joseph Cornelius Hill was a full blooded Spaniard.
He was my grandfather and would really like to know some more about him
as I know nothing except after he married my grandmother here in Oregon.

Jennie CURTIS was born in 1862 in Wisconsin
and brought to the Gallatin Valley by her family in 1864. They homesteaded
near Manhattan, where I understand a family cemetery still exists on a
private ranch. She married a man named FLY and had 5 children, one of whom
was my great-grandmother, Alma Fly KIFER, probably born on the homestead.
There are many family stories about Jennie Curtis. She's something of a
legend. I'd like to find out more about her and the party that settled
near Manhattan in 1864. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
