LOOKUPS AND VOLUNTEERS
Would you like to help? We need you!
-
Do you have any local history books that you would be willing to
use for an occasional lookup request?
-
If you get a local newspaper would you be willing to post Granite
County obituaries on the GenConnect boards? We really need this one!
-
Would you be willing to transcribe local cemeteries or
photograph local historical buildings?
-
Do you visit the local library occasionally? If so, could you do
a lookup while you are there?
-
Do you have any old Granite County Photos we could post?
-
Do you have access to some other historical records, such as
wills, diaries, census returns, etc. that you would be willing
to transcribe?
-
Do you have any old Granite County yearbooks you would be willing
to index or do a lookup in?
-
Any other ideas? Just
email
the webmaster!
If you do research in Granite County or at the Montana Archives
for a fee,
let me know. I will post that in the appropriate area below also.

The Missoula Public Library has data for the following
counties in western Montana: Missoula, Mineral, Granite,
Ravalli, Lake, Lincoln, and Sanders. The Western Montana
Genealogical Society houses their collection at the
Missoula Public Library. We have a committee that helps
answer the queries. You are welcome to send them to me.
We created our files to do this. There may be a bit of
wait as we receive MANY queries through our Society's mail,
Roots-L, Library mail and e-mail, the Montana State
Genealogical Society, etc. Check out the
Missoula Public Library's
website. We have listed SOME of the records that we have
to check.
We do not have census tapes in our library.
They are available at the University of Montana's Mansfield
Library and our local Family History Center has the Montana
films as well. If the information is not here, I may know
where it is. Sincerely, Paulette K. Parpart, Library Technician

I am a native of Granite County, MT, but, unfortunately, do not live there
any more. I've been in Texas since 1982 but I do go back to visit every year
or so. I live near Fort Worth so I have access to the National Archives records
center there.
I have two census CDs for Montana now and can do looks on them. One is for the
1920 Census
(T625 Roll 971 covering Flathead, Glacier, Garfield, Granite and Hill counties)
and the
1870 Census
for the entire territory.

I live in Drummond but work in Philipsburg at the Courthouse.
I would like to volunteer for any type of look-ups there. I have
access to many births and deaths records in the Courthouse,
beginning 1898. I would be happy to look up any of these that
I could.

The following people will do research for a
FEE
in the areas indicated. Please be advised that neither the
County Coordinator nor the Montana GenWeb Project, nor the
USGenWeb Project are responsible for their research. We are
not familiar with their services and their name has been
placed here as a service. It is up to you to negotiate with
the researcher regarding his/her fees. But if you use their
services, please let me know your experience.
