-
Bordering Wyoming and Yellowstone Park, Park County was
formed in 1887 from a part of Gallatin County. Parts of Park County were taken
over time to form parts of Carbon & Sweet Grass counties and in 1929, a part was
annexed to Yellowstone Park.
-
Located in the lush Paradise Valley. The valley is
ideal for raising cattle and its warm chinook winds protect the area from the
bitter Montana winters.
-
When the Northern Pacific railroad laid tracks in
1882, both the cattle industry and the town flourished. Among the town's most
notable residents was "Calamity Jane". But after being jailed following a
disturbance at the train depot, her fondness faded and she left town.
-
Livingston is at the head of the Paradise Valley,
through which flows the Yellowstone River and around which rise the Absaroka and
Gallatin mountain ranges of the magnificent Rockies.
