This is the key to the files located at the Missoula
Public Library. Each individual buried in Missoula County has a "Bio
Sheet" listing the following items: Name, Sex, Age at death, Birth date,
Birth place, Residence, Occupation, Military record, Father's name, Mother's
name, Spouse's name, Marriage date, Marriage place, Date of death, Place of
death, Cause of death, Burial date, Town of burial, Cemetery with location,
Name of mortuary, Death certificate number (if there is one), Newspaper
citations, Fraternal organizations, On stone with ... , Other Information. The
cemetery cataloging project is not complete, but does use multiple sources for
verification. Each year the index is supplemented with new information which is
not for sale at this time.
Newspaper Indexes
All newspapers indexed will have a combination of the following event
codes listed: Adoptions, Birth notices, Special birthdays, Death notices,
Divorce notices, Generation photographs (in later papers), Institutionalized
persons, Marriage notices (and related events), Missing in action (during war
years), Persons reported missing, Naturalization notices (Declaration and/or
final papers), Legal name change, and Prisoner of war (during war years).

- The "Bulletin"
was published from Winter 1981 to Spring 1984. Partial records for western
Montana census, Missoula County residents, 1890 Wright & Woodward's
City Directory, a variety of voter registers, marriage records, church
records, post office information, small cemeteries, and an article on
Missoula are maps. An index for these issues is being done and will be
available soon. See the Table of Contents to

Confirmations ... from 1866 and in Hellgate and Frenchtown"
- This index to the records
of Microfilm roll no. 356 at the Montana Historical Society is for the
Catholic Church records started by Father Anthony Ravalli and continued by
his successors until 1907. The death records for 1898 were not listed on
the microfilm. There are 1,208 names listed.
"Montana Data Index, 2nd Edition"
- This volume is a reference
guide to historical and genealogical resources in Montana. Types of items
indexed are 1) newspaper news and vital records, 2) Local government
records, 3) Census, 4) Cemetery records, 5) Military records, 6) Indexes
to local histories. Each entry includes the location where the record can
be found, official name of the record, time period the item covers, a
description of the item, the format in which the index is organized,
research information (costs for doing research, cost of the item if it is
for sale, etc.), and an address for inquiries.
