American Legion

The American Legion is Nationally Chartered, and for Montana is headquartered in the Veterans & Pioneers Memorial Building in Helena, MT. There are 11 Districts in Montana, each having several Posts (local organizations) that comprise the bulk of the membership. For 2001 Edward Sperry (406-777-3337) is the Montana Districts Membership Chairman. To locate past members it is recommended to call him and obtain current listing for whom to contact at an individual district office, and get directed to the specific Post that your ancestor would have been a member.
