Welcome to Yellowstone County, Montana support
positions that are available for volunteers to assist. Please take a moment to
review this list, and get involved with your community.
Your Yellowstone Genealogy Forum is looking for
volunteers to fill the following positions:
#1 2nd Vice President
This person will attend functions that are not SAFE
for the President to attend (hahaha).
Actually, this job is much more difficult then that! It is necessary for this person to
handle correspondence for YGF. If
someone is ill or needs to be thanked, you’re on board to send a note! You need to bring the name badges to
each meeting, or if you cannot make a meeting it is your responsibility to find
someone else to bring them. This
job pays you less then if you were President, but involves only 1 hour a month
or so.
#2 Treasurer
This person needs to be able to keep accurate financial
records for the Forum. Basically
you will be a co-signature on the checking account. You will be collecting receipts and paying the bills. We are talking 1 hour a month.
#3 Program Chairman
This person will be setting up programs for the Forum. You will be collecting ideas for
programs and then finding people to give the programs. Not a difficult job, but can be more
time consuming. My guess, from
when I held this position, is 2 hours a month. This is a very interesting
position. This person will be
taking photos of events that involve YGF, as well as collecting `memorabilia’
and putting it in a scrapbook.
Maybe 1 hour a month.
#5 Lending Library
This lucky person gets to listen and watch any or
all of the video/ audio researching materials. The only thing we ask in return is for you to bring the
inventory to the general meetings so others can check the materials in and
out. The time you will be
investing is a half hour before the general meetings, perhaps another few
minutes to put inventory back in `order’.
#6 Gen Bug needs someone to help the
newsletter editor. The job would
involve going to the editor’s home when the Gen Bug is being written. Our Newsletter goes out every 3 months,
so not a monthly commitment.
Please realize these positions take 12-24 hours a YEAR, and
generally around your schedule!
Board meetings are held several times a year. Commonly in the past the Board has met every month, however
we have managed to eliminate the need to meet so often. It may not be important for you to
attend EVERY board meeting, however it may help you fulfill your commitment if
you are better informed on what is being discussed. The Board is ready, willing and very able to help you should
the need arise. A mere frown will bring
in our forces!
If you are interested in any of those,
let me know and I will put you on a `possible’ list for next year.
We
of the Forum want to thank all of you for considering serving our group. I think you will be surprised at how
little time is needed by each of us if we all step forward!
